Health is Wealth - Student Affairs Hosts Wellness Week

Student Affairs hosted a Wellness Week for Shermies during the week of April 19-23rd. Each day there was an activity that focused on a different type of wellness.

On Tuesday, Health in Hand Juice & Smoothie Bar joined us on campus to pass out free freshly made cold-pressed juice to help promote nutritional wellness. Mental wellness was promoted on Wednesday with our campus counselor, Sabrina Richardson, who hosted an interactive table talk about "Ways to Manage Stress." The week ended with taking care of students' physical wellness by having the Spartanburg Community College Massage students on campus to administer 15-minute chair massages.

Throughout the entire week, Chiropractic Student Government (CSG) hosted a friendly competition for students to draw and create motivational chalk art along the sidewalks of Sherman College to encourage and bring a smile to everyone's face.
Regent Feature: Going Above and Beyond - 100 Days of Helping

Our Regents have big hearts, and along with giving to Sherman College, many support special causes in their local communities. This month, we are featuring regent Ryan Bones, D.C., of Beyond Bones Chiropractic in Coeur d'Alene, ID. Dr. Bones and his team are working to bring 100 Days of Helping to their community. "Beyond Bones Chiropractic is about two things, helping people and helping our community. When we saw our local small businesses struggling after a rough 2020, we knew we could do more for them," said Dr. Bones about the conception of 100 Days of Helping.

The purpose of the initiative is to bring not only physical health but also economic health to the community. Their goal over the period of 100 days is to help 100 people live a better life through chiropractic care and help 100 businesses breathe easier through donations. "The response we have seen so far has been amazing and we're not even halfway through!" shared Dr. Bones.

The Regent Program provides for the advancement of Sherman College. Its members support the college with annual gifts of $1,000 or more, and the collective financial commitment of its members has been a major source of support for the college's annual fund since 1997. Campus Raises Money, Awareness for Safe Homes

Students, faculty and staff enjoyed a mid-week break from the dress code and wore their jeans to campus on Wednesday, April 28, all for a good cause. For a minimum $3 donation to SAFE Homes-Rape Crisis Coalition (SHRCC) in Spartanburg, many on-campus participated in Denim Day, an annual awareness event and fundraiser.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and SHRCC promotes Denim Day as part of a large-scale effort to raise awareness and help prevent sexual violence. Sherman College participated in the campaign for its sixth year, collecting $475 in donations for Safe Homes for its work with survivors. Read the story behind Denim Day.

Alumni, Let's Keep in Touch!

Sherman alumni know the feeling of having their very own special family while attending chiropractic college. And like any good family, we want to keep in touch! We are asking all Sherman College graduates to take just a few minutes to update their contact information and send in their latest professional and personal news.

For some graduates, we may only have a home address on file, which means we don't have any professional/business information. Sending these details helps us stay informed about your practice and accomplishments, and it also allows us to send patients to you if you wish to be part of our online referral directory. Take just a minute and update your info today!

Lyceum 2021: Time to Shine Moved to October

Sherman College has been carefully evaluating plans for Lyceum 2021 over the past few weeks in accordance with current events and local, state, and federal recommendations regarding COVID-19. The college has opted to postpone Lyceum 2021 until October 28-30, 2021, in hopes that it can host its annual homecoming and continuing education event on campus and in person.

As the year progresses, we will continue to evaluate the safety and potential liability of hosting this event, and we will keep you informed with as much advance notice as possible. No matter what happens, you can count on Lyceum 2021 taking place on October 28-30, either in-person or virtually.

The goal is to host this event in person so we can see our alumni and supporters, connect with new friends, and celebrate our wonderful profession together, just the way B.J. intended at the first Lyceum so many years ago. Please watch our website for the latest program information and updates. One way or another, we'll see you in October! Read the full announcement.
