Good afternoon! First off welcome to all the new freshmen parents. This email newsletter serves as the main mode of communication with parents for the high school youth ministry and events. 
We make every effort to send information weekly throughout the school year to keep everyone informed on upcoming events and opportunities for your high school student. 
While this email is long, it contains some great ways to be involved in the youth ministry at Sheridan.

How to stay informed with youth happenings 
In addition to this email newsletter, t here are several ways to keep up with the youth ministry at Sheridan. 
We are active on Instagram and Twitter and there are details below about how you and your students can connect with us there. 
We also use a texting service to send updates to both parents and students. Learn more on how to join the list below.

In addition to all that I work hard to be available to youth and parents at anytime if there are questions or concerns. My email and cellphone  number are included in every email. Please feel free to reach out at any time. I will respond as soon as I am able to. 

One of our goals for this year is to work on planning ahead. My hope is that by providing families with information as early as possible, you will be able to make plans in advance and make sure that students do not miss out on opportunities. 

Summer 2017 plans?
There is information included in this email about our two main high school summer trips. I know that it is crazy to think that we have to start making plans for next summer already but the reality is that if we don't start now we will miss out.  P lease look them over and talk with your students about them. Registration information will be available soon.

My ultimate goal is for us to have a place where your student can feel comfortable to be a part of group of peers working together to grow in their faith. During our weekly meetings on Wednesdays we will have plenty of time for fellowship alongside faith development and growth. 
I am looking forward to this year and am very excited to get things started! As always please let me know if you have questions or concerns.

Weekly Youth Group at 
Wednesdays @ the Well
Opportunities for High School Students

Wednesday nights serve as our main weekly gathering for our high school students. Students and their families are invited to join us on Wednesday nights for a meal, worship and education. Our first Wednesdays @ the Well for the 2016-2017 school year is September 7. 
The schedule for Wednesday nights is as follows: 
5pm-6pm: Meal
6pm-6:30pm: Worship
6:30pm-7:30pm - Education Hour (high school youth gather in Great Room North)

There is no official registration for high school youth to attend Wednesday night activities. All are welcome, friends are always invited!

A great way to keep up with what the youth are up to is to follow us on Instagram ( @sheridan_2913), Twitter (@sheridan_2913) and Facebook. Even if you don't have an account with these channels, you will be able to see updates. 
You can search for them one each site or just click the links above. 
To get updates from Facebook, you must be a Facebook user. Simply search for my name: Cameron McDaniel and send me a friend request. All youth ministry Facebook updates are posted to my page. 

We are always working to expand our social media presence. Every post will automatically hit all three of these sites.

Summer Opportunities

At this point we are very excited to be able to offer two trips for our high school youth this summer. We will have more details and registrations for each trip open very soon. 



Fundraising Brainstorm Meeting
Sunday, August 28 at 11am in Room 646

As we continue to offer more opportunities for our youth at Sheridan we need to continue to create new way to raise funds to keep cost down for our families. We would like to include you all in the planning because your help in carrying out many of these fundraisers is vital. We are looking to find some new innovative ways to raise funds that can be meaningful to the youth and that will engage the larger congregation. 
Join us for our fundraising brainstorming meeting this Sunday, August 28 at 11am in Room 646 in the education wing at church. 
Everyone is welcome, we would love to hear ideas about what other organizations have tried. What was successful, what other ideas might you have. No idea is too out there for this meeting! If you are unable to join us for the meeting but have something to share, please email me the information and I will present it on your behalf. We look forward to seeing you on the 28th!
