Recent God Moments at Mission Central

Here at Mission Central, we are always looking for creative ways to connect resources with those in need, and we know the next opportunity could be right around the corner. We feel honored to provide a space where collaborations and connections are made to meet needs in the communities we serve. We wanted to share a few stories of divine connection that we call God Moments around here.

Our Volunteer Coordinator, Anna Harris, has been hard at work developing and implementing new ways to engage our volunteers' various skill sets here at Mission Central. One of those initiatives is a sewing station in our volunteer room, where volunteers use materials to sew bags for our Activity Kits.

We were graciously donated a sewing machine for this initiative; however, we were missing the presser foot. As Anna was preparing to send out a message seeking a presser foot, one of our church partners who volunteers at Mission Central walked in with a presser foot in hand. It was a perfect fit, and the volunteers were able to start creating bags for our Activity Kits!

Recently a gentleman stopped by to donate electric wheelchairs, and as he was bringing the remaining wheelchairs inside, he mentioned to Margi, our Receptionist/Administrative Assistant, that he was looking to sell a Toyota van as well. While that conversation was happening, our partner, Grace Baptist Mission Ghana, was visiting Mission Central to discuss donations for an upcoming international shipment to Ghana over the summer.

Margi connected the donor to our partner, and after a brief conversation, it was determined the van would be donated free of cost to our partner to send to Ghana in their upcoming shipment! Mission Central worked with the generous donor to coordinate the logistics, and we are now storing a van for Grace Baptist Mission Ghana in preparation for their next resource shipment. When the time comes to pack the shipping container, this vehicle will be filled with resources and placed inside the shipping container. Stay tuned in the coming months for photos and videos of the packing process, and a report back from our partner about the impact of these resources in communities in Ghana!

MissionLink Update:

We Asked. You Responded. We Listened!

At the beginning of the year, we collected survey data to determine how often our MissionLink subscribers would like to receive a newsletter from us.

Survey data revealed the majority of our subscribers prefer a bi-weekly MissionLink, so we will be shifting to bi-weekly MissionLink newsletters starting June 5th.

We are always striving to improve our communications and processes to best meet the needs of our Mission Central community, and we are excited to implement this new change in response to your feedback! We have updated our 2024 collection calendar. It is located below. To make purchasing easier, we have added these items to our Amazon wish list as well. Please note that, while this calendar has been created to guide those who want to do a larger formal collection effort, we accept these items at any time throughout the year.
