A beautiful fall in Minnesota has given way to the onset of colder weather. As we move into the end of the year, we acknowledge the meaningful pullback in the market from the highs that we saw the end of July. Many of the respected economists and investment leaders that I listen to are suggesting it is quite possible that we could see a "Santa Claus Rally". Let's hope they're right. It appears the market is absorbing the realities of interest rates. We will continue to follow rates as that is a key driver of the markets right now. The economy is still showing signs of strength and profitability, and that's likely to continue for the near term. I encourage you to stay informed enough not to worry, any additional information can cause undue worry, but if that happens, call me, we can work through it together.
All my best,
Will

Market Thoughts - November 2023
|
Brad McMillan, CFA, CAIA, MAI, Managing Principal, Chief Executive Investment Officer, shares his thoughts on what's going on with
the financial status of our markets and economy for November. U.S. indices were down for the third consecutive month, with the Nasdaq doing the worst. International markets also pulled back, and fixed income was down. Despite the market performance, job growth remained healthy, consumer income and spending grew, and retail sales increased.

Will's Top Ten Takeaways
of a Road Trip With Your
17-year old Daughter
|
- I am now on the verge of deciding what Taylor Swift era I will land in as a newly minted 54-year-old “Swifty."
- I managed to get ready every morning at the hotel sink with 2.5 square centimeters of free counter surface among the explosion of wrappers, makeup debris, washcloths, and certain beauty aids I had never seen.
- Partnering with a 17-year-old traveling cohort whose ability to instantly nap makes Rip Van Winkel look like a world-class shepherd as she fell into a sustained snooze through the Fall beauty of Maryland and West Virginia.
- I learned how to have a seated dance party in a rental pick-up truck while still keeping us safely on the road.
- I discovered her childhood had way more going on than I realized. I heard stories that I had never known before and am anxiously waiting to catch a few more on our next road trip.
- The American experiment is so wonderfully illustrated by the monuments in D.C. Our trip there and seeing these sites ignited questions and made connections about her American Identity. It was fantastic for me to witness and I cherish seeing them for the very first time through her eyes.
- The love that shows up in extended silence.
- Slowing down enough with each other to say, “Thank You,” and mean it.
- Watching each other work to understand as much about the other as the experience could give us.
- Elevated laughter as we jumped out of our rut of the repeated routine. Plus, the calm felt as we promised each other that we didn’t need to remember what we left behind or what was coming when we returned.

Kurt’s Visits to the “X” Xcel
Energy Center
My month started with going to see one of my favorite musicians, Peter Gabriel. I only saw him one other time, his So tour, way back in July of 1987 at Poplar Creek in Hoffman Estates, IL. I remember it was a great time, and so was this concert, his i/o tour. Here is one of my favorite new songs called “Olive Tree”. https://youtu.be/lBUZ1xnkOPo?si=O3QxbXfg6NhLYy9P
Later in the month, my son Colby, was able to purchase tickets for the Minnesota Wild game for Teacher Appreciation Night. Wow, he’s getting
perks already! Well, unfortunately, the Wild lost
in a pretty high scoring game, but it was still fun
to go with the family.

Heidi's Top Meat Markets!
|
Brr, it is getting chili out!!
I take this time of year to restock my freezer. This past weekend, my sister and I made a trip out to St. Joe, MN, to get some of the fabulous meats at the St. Joseph Meat Market. I decided I would share a few of my favorite Meat Markets to visit.
- My first recommendation is St. Joseph Meat Market in St. Joe, MN. They have an impressive selection of sausages, fresh cuts, deli meats, and beef jerky that are sure to please any palate.
- My next recommendation is Ready Meats, located on Johnson Street NE in Minneapolis. They offer a wide variety of meats, including high-quality beef, pork, and chicken.
- If you're in the Glen, MN area, be sure to check out Glen Meats on Hwy 47 for their amazing homemade jerky, smoked meats, fresh cuts, and great prices.
- Lastly, S & S Meats in Grand Rapids, MN offers fresh, locally sourced meats, fresh cuts, and smoked meats that are sure to impress.
Happy Holiday Cooking! Enjoy and have fun in the kitchen!
