Shalom Counseling & Mediation Center Hiring Executive Director

Shalom Counseling & Mediation Center is seeking a new Executive Director (ED) who provides visionary leadership and strategic direction to this highly regarded nonprofit organization.


Shalom Counseling & Mediation Center has three locations in Northwest Ohio (Archbold, Bryan, and Wauseon) and has a mission for providing Christ-centered, results-oriented, professional counseling and mediation to people in the region. Their licensed and credentialed staff provide comprehensive services to meet a variety of needs including general and specialty services to a range of individuals and groups.


The ED will be a collaborator, team builder, good listener, and an open communicator with an inspirational leadership approach who will be comfortable meeting and developing relationships with a variety of stakeholder groups. The ideal candidate embodies a diversity focused, inclusive approach to engagement with others and exhibits high emotional intelligence.

Education/Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required in business administration, social work, sociology, or psychology. Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Proven leadership experience and competence in health and human services settings in an administrative and/or operations role with direct supervision of staff. Experience in strategic planning, financial management, and program development.
  • Experience in counseling and/or mediation services preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising; the coordination of fundraising strategies, managing grant writing and funding, and the ability to network outside the organization and strengthen donor relations.
  • Operational knowledge of or experience with billing, including Medicaid and private insurance. Experience developing policies, procedures, and work flows.
  • Management of or work experience in a multi-site organization.   
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships, inspire others, and represent the organization effectively in various settings.
  • The Executive Director must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ethical and values-driven leadership style, with a commitment to diversity, equity, justice, and belonging for all.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of staff, volunteers, clients, and community partners.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of working at issues and relationships in the context of the Anabaptist tradition.
