Grown-Up & Me


Sunday, June 2nd 10:30-11:30am

 

A program for Jewish kids 2-4 & their grown-ups,

the first Sunday of the month.


In honor of Shavuot and it being the last class of this school year we will be

having an ice cream party! 🍦🍨


Weather permitting we are thinking of having the party at Rocket Ship Park in Port Jefferson. I will confirm this location as the date gets closer.

Tuesday 6/11 at 7:30pm minchah/maariv and Tikkun Leil Shavuot



For Tikkun Leil Shavuot, we will have three presentations consecutively. The presentations will be available in-person only:

 

1. "Two Poems about Love and Kindness:" connecting to the themes in the story of Ruth and the Revelation at Mt. Sinai, Marilyn London shares two of her original works. 

 

2. "Say My Name, Say My Name:" the four (or five) times a name is repeated in the Tanach. What, if anything, is the significance? Does God sometimes need to call us twice before we can hear God? By Rabbi Marge Cella.

 

3. "Intermarriages - Limits with Opportunities:" Rabbi Benson gives an overview of this topic in Conservative Judaism, and presents an idea of his own about mixed marriages.


Wednesday 6/12 at 9am : Shavuot services including akdamut. Minchah will follow Kiddush. Ann Helfgott will lead some learning during kiddush. No maariv service.



Thursday 6/13 at 9am: Shavuot services featuring breakfast with Ruth and Yizkor services. Minchah will follow Kiddush. No maariv service.
