Panorama Student Survey

After Thanksgiving break, all Shaker students in grades 3 through 12 will be taking the Panorama Student Survey. Panorama provides a computer-based survey composed of multiple choice and open-ended (free response) questions. The Panorama Student Survey gathers feedback from students about their classroom learning experience and their perceptions of the overall school environment. School leaders use the survey to learn from their students and plan for improvements. The survey takes about 20-30 minutes, and the responses to the surveys will be completely confidential. Additionally, if a student does not feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether.

If you do not want your child to participate in the survey, you have the option to opt-out by completing the Testing form in the PowerSchool Parent Portal by November 24. Use these directions for help with the online form.

On Friday, Lomond Elementary School hosted a Veterans Day whole-school assembly. They began by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance followed by an explanation of Veterans Day.

The assembly was a wonderful celebration of the veterans of staff and students, which included photos, branches of service and service highlights, all read by students. Some special veterans were even able to attend in person!

Way to go, Lomond, and thank you to all of our veterans!

Shaker Heights Represented at MSAN

From November 1-4, five Shaker Heights High School students attended the Multicultural Student Action Network (MSAN) Student Conference in Madison, Wisconsin.

Representing the Shaker Heights Schools, these students had the opportunity to network with students from MSAN school districts from New Jersey, Wisconsin, Illinois, North Carolina and Virginia. The theme of the conference was “You Belong Here,” and featured several speakers working in different occupations centered around policy, politics, education and service to communities of marginalized populations. Students also presented their own action plans to affect change in their school community. The Shaker Heights group presented on ways to revise the current high school tardy policy.

Featured in the above photos are Michael Ratcliffe, Matthew Jones and Kameron Walls from the MAC Scholars and Zuri Bagakas and Goddess Woodley from the MAC Sister Scholars. Thank you to Mr. Hubert McIntyre, Ms. Andrea Wright and Mr. William Warren for chaperoning this trip and supporting our students as they continue to navigate their MSAN journey.
