From the President:

Change can be positive, and KOT will be experiencing two

changes over the next week. First, this will be my last week as President and my last newsletter. I am excited to announce that Jeff Schapiro will be the next President of KOT.

More importantly, this is the last Shabbat that Rabbi Bergman will

be the Rabbi of our Kehillah. Rabbi Bergman has been with us for seven

years and he and his family have become a very important part of

KOT. This past weekend, we had 2 wonderful events which was proof of how

much the Bergman family means to all of us, not only our KOT family, but the

community at large.  Rabbi Ori, Nora, Ruvy, Simcha, Devorah Leah,

Zusha, Akiva and Nadav all bring joy to the KOT community and will be missed.

I would also like to thank everyone who shopped, prepped, set up, cleaned and sponsored last weekend’s events. It was teamwork that made the events so successful.

Kiddush is sponsored by the Bergman family.

Shabbat Shalom,

Cheryl

From the Rabbi:

Dear KOT,

There is a lovely teaching in Ethics of the Fathers urging everyone to "greet everybody with a warm, cheerful, and pleasant countenance." Similarly, the Talmud relates that Rav Yochanan Ben Zakkai, the greatest sage of his time, greeted everyone before they could greet him, both Jew and Non-Jew alike. My family and I have truly been greeted with such a warm smile and embrace by KOT and we thank you for it. Our appreciation is beyond words. The warmth and friendliness of the KOT community might be our greatest asset. Rabbi Shlomo Wolbe speaks about the great impact that friendliness has in bringing others closer to the torah and the community. So as we continue to build on our successes, we should use this great strength in growing our community and making Buffalo and even greater place.

You may recognize these words. They were from first newsletter sent out after we had arrived in Buffalo yet they could have been written today. On behalf of the entire Bergman family, especially the kids, thank you for making KOT such a warm, welcoming and loving home for us.

Shabbat Shalom!

Rabbi Ori Bergman
