"Power does not corrupt.
Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power."
The Joker has try to trick us again with his firing of FBI director
James Comey while diverting the blame to the (months old) Hillary email investigation. This will leave the Russian conspiracy inquiry to the next Trump appointee unless enough legislators insist on forming an independent commissioner. Comey testified alongside former US Attorney General
Sally Yates (also fired by Trump) as she took on and conquered the bullies who questioned her actions. She stood her ground and clearly explained the ample evidence and warnings of Michael Flynn's collusion with the Russians. Do these Jokers and Clowns really think we can't see the corruption of this administration. But will their blinded loyalty and polarization continue to spread cancerous seeds throughout our democracy? Bravo to our former Michigan US Attorney,
Barb McQuade as she clearly spells out the concerns of this situation:
"A narrow mind and a wide mouth usually go together"

Polarization is killing our society. It's everywhere and seems to be accelerating in its viciousness. It reared its ugly head last week in our local community when online messages prompted our Synagogue Adat Shalom to cancel the May 18th appearance of Israeli singer,
Achinoam Nini aka
Noa. False accusations about Noa were spread on social media and after threats of violence, the shul consulted Law Enforcement who expressed serious concern about protecting those attending the concert
. Cohesiveness, respect and dialogue within our small Detroit Jewish Community was decimated with this incident. Pride and strength used to be our motto but polarization has destroyed our semblance of solidarity. Where was the civil discourse to this standoff? Online debates (spewed with lies) cannot replace face to face dialogue where responsibility for your words are present. There are more than enough Jew Haters in this world...we don't need to ignite hate from within. One local woman who was protesting the concert was mad that in the past, Noa had
"snuck a Muslim onto the stage"
. Hello!!, 18% of Israel's population is Muslim and the majority live peacefully side by side with their Jewish neighbors. Yes, we have major coexistence issues between Israel, Gaza and the West Bank but censoring free speech is "their tactic" not ours. This story has leapt to the national and Israeli press. Noa has performed here many times in the past. She's a proud Zionist and respected representative who works hard to help bring peace to our homeland. Those local and foreign "keyboard warriors" are shameful ignorant bigots. Here are Noa's words about the disgraceful incident:
"Health is a Human Right, not a privilege to be purchased"
Shirley Chisholm
(1st Black Woman elected to Congress in 1968)
It's easy to help the privileged, but it takes courage to assist those who are destitute. Trump and the 217 House members (all from the same party) were giddy last week as they celebrated "WealthCare" to aid the top tier of our society (according to Warren Buffett) and at the same time returned fear to many Americans whose lives literally depend on their medical insurance. It is now in the hands of the Senate as they convene an all white male commission to revise or rewrite their our health plan. For the system to work equally for all, those who are young and healthy need to pay up, even though their medical needs are mild. Since, one day they too will be old and sick and will rely on their younger counterparts to pay their dues. Its simple mathematics and could be achieved if we were starting out fresh, but fixing the current system is not that simple. Yes, after 7 years (though much of the ACA didn't start till 2014), ObamaCare needs alterations, but feeding the fat and starving the needy won't fix the problem. What is really needed is a Universal system which covers all citizens. We should take the best practices of our peer western nations who successfully provide healthcare to their whole population.
"People like to say that the conflict is between good and evil. The real conflict is between truth and lies."
Don Miguel Ruiz
Good news and bad news. 82 kidnapped Nigerian girls were returned to their families after 3 years of Boko Haram captivity, but (the bad news) more than 100 girls are still missing. The evil terrorist group snatched nearly 300 schoolgirls back in April of 2013 which prompted a worldwide hashtag campaign of
#bringbackourgirls. Boko Haram has plagued the Nigerian people during a heinous killing spree and has displaced 2 million people. Their killing tactics are unthinkable, like using children as suicide bombers. How is it possible that people like them can even live on this planet. We are not born evil. Evil is brainwashed into the mind and it must be stopped.
"Censorship reflects a society's lack of confidence in itself"
Potter Stewart
(former associate Justice of the Supreme Court)
Because of narrow minds and wide mouths, we won't be able to enjoy the beautiful voice of Noa in person, but here are two songs for you till we get our senses back, strengthen our backbones by standing up to censorship and re-invited her to our community. The first is a duet with Sting and the 2nd is a medley of her music.
"A mother understands what a child does not say."
Jewish proverb
We can't minimize the fact that without Mothers, none of us would be here. Quantity is everywhere (anyone can be a mother) but quality is in the fruits of their labor. Bravo to all the Mothers and Mother figures of our society who selflessly nurture, encourage, protect, support and lead the way forward. My mother is a warm, loving, generous, family oriented, community minded role model. Wishing her and all the mothers a sweet and rewarding day.
