Shabbat Kiddush

Potluck Lunch

at Noon

Our move to UU means we have revived a wonderful HaMakom tradition: a sit-down kiddush lunch. Which means we need to jump-start another HaMakom tradition: the potluck with community contributions of dishes that serve at least 10 people.

Think warm! We have an oven available again. Think cool! There's always an appetite for lovely salads. Think about what YOU can bring. We will continue to provide bagels, lox and cream cheese. We are grateful to Gay Block and Billie Parker for their ongoing sponsorship. To sponsor future Kiddush Luncheons, contact Deborahavren@gmail.com

The Torah In The Tarot

Tuesday, September 17 at 7PM MST on Zoom

Presenter: Stav Appel

“The Torah in the Tarot” presents the thesis that the original Tarot de Marseille, the artistic ancestor of contemporary Tarot cards, served as a tool for clandestine Jewish education during the centuries long exile of Jews from French public life when the known version of the Tarot de Marseille – the Jean Noblet of 1650 Paris – is viewed through a Judaic lens of understanding, it is revealed to be a secret vessel for Hebrew letters, Torah stories, Judaic ritual objects and Jewish Holy Days.

Using slides to take a tour of antique Tarot cards, we will explore how the comprehensive and systematic depiction of Judaica in the Jean Noblet Tarot reveals the oldest known version of the Tarot de Marseille to be an artifact of crypto-Judaism and an unrecognized masterpiece of cryptography and world religious art.

and support HaMakom

Thank you for your donations

The observance of Yahrzeit is a sacred mark of reverence for the beloved departed; remembering them imparts a dimension of sanctity to our lives as we join together to recite Kaddish at services. Our noble tradition also invites us to kindle a memorial candle at home, and to make a memorial offering in honor of the person who is being remembered.
