Sets
I love completing things. So, assembling sets of books is right up my alley. It's taken me some time but I've finally assembled two more biographical sets: Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement and George C. Marshall. I am fascinated by both men and it has been a joy to slowly build each collection. The kicker? Every volume in the King trilogy is signed by Taylor Branch, not inscribed, which can lessen the value if it isn't a person of significance to the subject. The first volume of the set on George C. Marshall is the only one signed.
Branch, Parting the Waters (1988) If you have a few hours I'll bend your ear on my reverence for George C. Marshall -- my top pick for the best administrator in history. And, quite frankly, everyone needs a set of Will & Ariel Durant's Story of Civilization on their shelf. All dust jackets are in mylar covers. Cover boards of Vol. 1 has some scuffing and wear, other volumes in Fine condition.
