Immersive Technology in Planning:

See it. Experience it. Decide it.

This session will explore the shift from conventional public meetings to immersive technology in site, subarea, and comprehensive plans. Featuring a collaboration between private companies, Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center at Arizona State University, Colorado State University, and other storytelling consultants, this highly graphic and interactive presentation showcases how immersive technology, blending storytelling with high-tech imagery and sounds, engages the public, planners, elected officials, and younger generations in planning. This method transforms planning outreach by representing one of the first major technological shifts in decades and one of the first applications in comprehensive planning. Why debate and argue about the future when you can see it, be there, and discuss whether you like it? The presentation will demonstrate how these techniques apply to mountain towns where land is precious, housing demands are high, and landscapes are politically contested.

Immersive Technology in Planning will take place on Thursday, October 24th at 3PM. Click here for the schedule outline.

IN THE MIDDLE OF IT ALL

Bend is a bigger town than we're used to visiting (pop. 104,000) and there in terms of planning and development, there is MUCH going on. Our conference hotel is situated between Downtown Bend, the Colorado Ave Bridge, the Old Mill redevelopment, and the massive Timber Yards and Jackstraw Developments. All of these features are located within 1/2 mile of the hotel, and we are currently working with project partners to arrange tours of these properties.
