The Lake Erie Region Pastors Conference was held October 17-19, 2022 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Toledo, OH. Rev. Peter Burfiend was keynote speaker on the topic of his book, Gnostic America. Rev. Dr. Roger Ellis led opening worship on Tuesday morning. Speaking on 1 Timothy 1:1-7, he shared how the authority for our ministry is always God's Word, through the cross of Jesus Christ. There were also reports from the District staff, the Board of Directors, and Bishop Jamison J. Hardy. Much thanks to the people of Good Shepherd for hosting this conference.

All Saints Campus Ministry

What Do Students Worry About?

Campus ministry is a wonderful place for college students to talk about problems that worry them. The need to help them deal with these worries remains great.

One wonderful student who came into All Saints to talk is a Slippery Rock University student. He was so impressed by the sharing done by Pastor Jacob Deal and church members during the free student Labor Day meal that he came to the worship service the following Sunday and later in the week came in to talk some more. What did he talk about?

Although the student seemed to be well adjusted, and he is, he wanted to describe the pain he had experienced in elementary school. He had been so bullied that he almost lost hope that his parents and teachers would recognize his pain. Later they did recognize it. They realized that he had special needs. Click here to read more.

October is Church Worker Appreciation Month

In His great love and mercy, God blesses and sustains His church through the men and women serving in church work vocations. The LCMS rejoices and gives thanks for the more than 14,000 faithful church workers who serve in congregations and schools across our Synod. People serve the church in many roles, especially:

The most important way to thank God for your church workers is to receive the gifts that He provides through them: go to church to receive God’s gifts of Word and Sacrament. Take time also to say “thank you” to them and to show your appreciation in special ways. Pray for the church workers at your congregation and all of the workers in the LCMS, thanking God for their service.

For a few ideas to show your support, the LCMS has posted resources here.
