So much fun was had at the 1st Annual Celebration of Multiculturalism
Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the Community Coalition for Change’s Celebration of Multiculturalism event! It was a wonderful day on the East Bridgewater Town Common full of music, dancing and celebration. Thank you to all of our sponsors, vendors, speakers, performers and volunteers who made this event possible.
Historical Tidbit:

On May 20, 1938, East Bridgewater had it's own airmail flight. It was a big event.

Many townspeople showed up and children were let out of school early to meet the plane.
Richard Alexander sent himself this letter when he was 15 years old:
"Dear Dick,
It is National Air Mail week and I am sending this letter to myself for a souvenir. The mail plane is supposed to land tomorrow in Roaches Field and we get out of school at 12:00 to see it. I hope it doesn't rain."

Roaches Field was where Subway Restaurant is now, and no, it didn't rain.
~ Respectfully Submitted, Margaret Alexander

Friends of Jones Pond Appreciation
When a random stranger stops to help. Thank you Gene, we appreciate your generous contribution today!
Proof that caring is contagious. Today while Gail was picking up trash, Gene stopped by and commented on the pond. Mentioned how he takes his grandchildren to fish here. Then out of the kindest of gestures made a contribution to the cause. Thank you Gene. We purchased some solar lights and and a suet feeder for the birds. It is amazing what can be accomplished when people genuinely care.
Annual spring flowers and vegetable flats have arrived,
but are selling quick.

The Bird Serenade

Each morning, my window slightly open, I wake up to the bird serenade in the dim morning light.

...a daily reminder of these delicate beings that share our earth...their chirps and songs both beautiful and powerful in sheer volume.

"A bird does not sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song."
~Chinese Proverb

"Birds sing after a storm; why shouldn’t people feel as free to delight in whatever remains to them?"
~ Rose Kennedy

"Keep a green tree in your heart and perhaps the singing bird will come." ~Lois Lowry

"Wakefulness is not a destination but a song the human heart keeps singing, the way birds keep singing at the first sign of light." ~Mark Nepo
They thrive in the shade of their trees, they soar through the open skies, they sing their morning song ... these that are so small, so frail. Even the smallest can have a tremendous impact in this world, if they are many.
~ Jacquie
