.......New Faces and spaces in Delhi elementary.......

All of us at Delhi Elementary are so excited to have two new teachers, a new school nurse, and a new library associate in our building! Lily Aulwes and Allie Knipper have joined our teacher team. Lily is a Wartburg graduate from the Edgewood-Colesburg area and is teaching 3rd grade. Allie is an UNI graduate who is a Maquoketa Valley Graduate and will be teaching Title 1 at both Earlville and Delhi Elementaries. Both of these teachers will be starting their teaching career with us! Elise Bonert has joined us on the Delhi Campus as our school nurse and is also helping in the elementary/middle school office. Amanda Ludwig is working in the elementary/middle school library and as a classroom associate. Welcome to the wildcat family Lily, Allie, Elise, and Amanda!

Over the summer work was completed on a new elementary music and band space. Mr. Dreessen is all moved in and making music in this great space right off of the elementary/middle school commons. This new music classroom allowed the old music room to be transformed into an additional classroom for 5th grade.

.......Updates from Earlville & Johnston Elementary.......

The 2024-2025 school year is underway!  It has been a magnificent start to the school year with so much excitement from our students and staff!  I look forward to working closely with all of our families as we celebrate all of the milestones our young learners are sure to reach.

As a school district, we are committed to providing high levels of learning for all students and empowering them for life long success.  This begins with our preschoolers as they start to gain more independence in their daily routines and begin to build new friendships with classmates and school staff.  This continues as our JK students grow in their foundational knowledge in reading and math while also solidifying their social skills during play.  The kindergarteners will grow by leaps and bounds this year as they learn to read books, write sentences, and learn their basic math facts.  This is such an exciting year of growth!  First graders have moved on to Johnston Elementary and will gain additional independence while improving in their abilities to read, write, and problem solve.  Our second graders are already comfortable with the routines at Johnston, so they will be engaged in learning about fossils, animal life cycles, and so much more as they improve and grow their academic skills.  It is going to be such an amazing year!!

Be sure to keep up on everything happening at Earlville and Johnston Elementary though the monthly newsletter, classroom updates, and the Maquoketa Valley Facebook page.  You won’t want to miss it!

Update from the Earlville Elementary Library

The Earlville Elementary Library looks different this school year. It is now organized by subject (animals, vehicles, rhyming, etc.) so students can find books more easily. Thank you to those who helped prepare this library space for the 2024-2025 school year!

7th and 8th Grade ELA

Our first few days of Middle School ELA were warm. Peaking into our classroom, you would never have known it! These 7th-8th graders were focused and took to the new ELA routine like ducks to water. Students are already preparing for their first Book Talk. Keep up the impressive work!

New Text Alert System

We have a new alert system called SchoolMessenger. In order to receive text and email alerts, registration for the 2024-2025 school year must be completed online in PowerSchool. The difference you will notice when you log in as a parent is that the previous student information is not visible. Therefore, registration is imperative for successful communication between school and parents. Reminder - only two contacts will receive texts and emails - those with “mother” and “father” relationship status. When entering cell phone numbers, please designate it as a “mobile” phone. An opt in text message will be sent before the first day of school to parents to opt in to receiving these alerts.

If the information in PowerSchool is not accurate, you will not receive these alerts.
