PILI kicks of its new fiscal year this month in high gear and we’ve got lots of exciting announcements, upcoming events and pro bono opportunities to share!
We said goodbye to our summer Interns and Fellows this month. Nora Cygan, a summer PILI Intern at Equip for Equality said, "My PILI Internship has given me the opportunity to both network with the larger public interest community and to understand how important it is to help people with disabilities advocate for themselves and others." Volunteers are needed in Champaign, Decatur, Peoria and Tazewell County Courthouses. Volunteer shifts are only two hours, but the impact is much greater! Learn more.
llinois Free Legal Answers is a virtual legal clinic where low-income Illinois residents can submit a question online to ask a lawyer for help with a legal issue. It's pro bono anytime, anywhere!Learn more.
IL-AFLAN provides civil legal services across Illinois to veterans, active duty military and their spouses and dependents and PILI refers pro bono matters in the 101 counties outside of Cook County. Help us serve those who have served us! Learn more.

On September 11th, the Tenth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee held a summit for members of the judiciary, law firm leaders and other pro bono stakeholders met to discuss how to increase pro bono participation at their firms. Read more.
Thank you to attorneys from Reed Smith LLP who volunteered at PILI’s Legal Prep Community Law Clinic in September! They spent the evening assisting low-income clients with legal issues including minor guardianship, landlord-tenant dispute and decedent’s estate. Read more.
An article in the Oklahoma Bar Journal discusses the importance of making court forms easy to understand. "Today, the courthouse doors are not equally open.
