Did someone say Pumpkin Spiced Latte?! Say it ISN’T so! As a true ‘Jersey Girl’, I am still soaking up as much time on the sandy shores of our beautiful Garden State as I can. Don’t get me wrong, I love pumpkin-anything but, I am not ready to let the long days of summer go just yet. While they still have not come up with a way to slow or stop time, we will move forward together into the onset of the shorter Fall days.

September brings some great outdoor activities and festivals, including our very own PINK Ribbon Softball Tournament on 9/11 & 9/12! The amazing volunteers and teams of young women that make up PINK Ribbon Softball have been supporting BCRC programs with heir generous donations for a number of years now. The young women who come to play at this weekend long tournament, come ready to play their hearts out to win...however, prior to the tournament they (and their families) fundraise with a fierce passion to support us to succeed in our mission to help every breast cancer survivor live with, through and beyond breast cancer. We would not be able to provide many of our free services without their hard work and support. This year we are looking to support them back by sharing our appreciation and stories of hope. If you have not already signed up to throw out a first pitch or share your story- please do so now! If you are not able to physically volunteer, yet still want to help out, email me your story and/or any words of encouragement you would like to express to volunteers and players.

This month we will also be providing you with information about our Breast Cancer Awareness Month Campaign and fundraisers. Every year with the help of so many wonderful volunteers, we dress Princeton up in pink ribbons. This year we are expanding our Pink Ribbon awareness campaign into Trenton and other surrounding Mercer County area locations. We are also finalizing the details for our Beyond Pink Art Show fundraiser - mark your calendars for 10/21/21! We are looking for artists, sponsors, ticket purchasers and volunteers to help with auction item donations. If you would like to help, or would like more information please do not hesitate to reach out!

I cannot end this letter without expressing a note of thanks and appreciation to all of you who have been volunteering and offering support throughout this pandemic and my thanks and appreciation to my fellow team members at the YWCA. I am proud of the work we do together. I am proud to call myself a YWCA staff member and supporter. I am honored to work alongside of some of the most compassionate and intelligent women on the planet. As we enter into one of the busiest times of the year, I know that together we will stand strong in our fight to empower women and eliminate racism.
Be well, stay safe, take time to care for yourself and don’t forget…
We need YOU more than ever to volunteer!
