Meet the Candidates
for Pima County Assessor, Recorder, and Superintendent of Schools
Saturday, September 14, 2024, 3 pm

Gabriella Cázares-Kelly for Pima County Recorder (Incumbent). Gabriella was elected Pima County Recorder in November 2020 and began her administration in January 2021. She is the first Native American to hold an elected Pima County office and the third Native American to hold a county-level office in the State of Arizona.
Suzanne Droubie for Pima County Assessor. As the only candidate with experience in both the Assessor’s Office and the private sector, Suzanne has a unique perspective which will allow her to ensure fairness to all taxpayers of Pima County. If elected, she would be the first female assessor in Pima County’s history.
Dustin Williams for Pima County Superintendent of Schools (Incumbent). Dustin’s career has included elementary education and administration. He holds a Master’s in Education degree from Northern Arizona University. He states, “Serving as your Pima County School Superintendent is one of the greatest honors of my life. I am running for re-election in 2024 to continue my support for the students, educators, and constituents of Pima County."

What Propositions are on the Ballot?

Richard Cook and Michael Bryan will provide an overview of the dozen statewide propositions that will be on the November ballot.

Richard Cook will be speaking on the four election/voting propositions on the ballot. He is a founding member and treasurer of Voter Choice Arizona and is also on the executive leadership team of Better Ballot Arizona. Both organizations aim to educate Arizona voters about Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) and open primaries.

Michael Bryan is the program chair of Democrats of Greater Tucson and is the founder of Blog for Arizona. He will discuss the other eight propositions.

Election Information
The ballot this year will be a long one. There are a dozen statewide propositions on the ballot! Here's a guide from LD19 to the statewide ballot propositions including a recommendation on two judges.
SUMMARY: Vote YES only on Proposition 139, Arizona Abortion Access. Vote NO on ALL the other statewide propositions.

Yard signs for most candidates are for sale at Headquarters. Yard signs can go up now and don't have to be taken down until 15 days after the General Election which is November 5th. Cash, check, and credit cards are accepted. Buy a Harris/Walz sign and get a FREE local candidate sign!

This meeting will be your chance to share statements publicly and they will be recorded as official comments for the Air Quality Permit.

Join Team Vanessa at the Hunger Walk in Green Valley
Join Vanessa Bechtol, for Pima County Supervisor, Position 4, and community members to help end hunger in southern Arizona. The Hunger Walk 2024 is Saturday, September 14, 8 am at Canoa Ranch.
To register for the walk, click here then click “Join Team” on the left under our logo. You can register to walk with us in person or virtual (a walk on your own somewhere else).
We will do a canvass afterwards, for anyone interested in joining that too.
That information will be sent out separately once a sign-up form is set up.

WE CARE Campaign in September:
Voices from the Border and the Samaritans
Voices from the Border provides direct services to migrants, including:
Medical care--coordinates and provides free medical care and necessary transportation to those who would otherwise not have access.
Support--housing, food, clothing, and daily necessities primarily for women and children in Nogales, Sonora awaiting their CBP One appointments to request asylum into the US.
Resources--For those asylum seekers who are allowed entry into the US and with whom we've established relationships in Nogales, Sonora, Voices helps provide and locate resources necessary for survival.
The Samaritans also assist with emergency support to these asylum seekers.
The greatest needs are:
Underwear and socks, all children’s sizes and small men’s and women’s.
Travel size toiletries including shampoo, soap, deodorant, razors, shaving cream and other everyday products.
Please bring your donations to HQ and put them in the blue wagon. You may also bring your contributions to any program meeting.

Headquarters is open 5 days per week, Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 3 pm. Beginning September 14th, HQ will be open also on Saturdays from 10 am to 1 pm. | |
