A Message from the President

As we embark on a major infrastructure initiative in the Central Business District (see the paragraph below), I'd like to encourage residents to continue to support local businesses. Our charming stores, restaurants, and service providers enhance the quality of our community. Businesses will remain open throughout construction, and they need our ongoing patronage. Please continue to shop local!

Central Business District TIF-Funded Infrastructure Project

Beginning this week, the Village is facilitating a Central Business District Improvement Project using Tax Increment Financing (TIF) and Federal Surface Transportation Program (STP) funds. The project area is Burlington Avenue, from Wolf Road to Grand Avenue, including new water main, asphalt repaving, and streetscape improvements including the sidewalks located on the south side of Burlington. Local retailers are open for business throughout the project. Learn more and register to receive periodic updates by visiting the project page on the Village's website. Additional information will also be included in the upcoming issue of Tower Topics.

WSPD Notice: Phone Scam

The Western Springs Police Department issued a statement advising residents of a phone scam involving calls from individuals claiming to be a WSPD Sergeant. Learn more about what to do if you receive such a call on the Village's website.

Water Division: Unregulated Contaminant Testing

The Water Division recently mailed a postcard to all households reporting on the results of unregulated contaminant testing. Of the 29 unregulated contaminants - including PFAS - only Lithium was detected. Lithium, a natural occuring metal, is currently an unregulated contaminant, meaning there are no regulatory levels set by the EPA for drinking water or by the FDA for bottled water. To learn more, please visit the Water Division's Testing and Data page and read the News Flash issued by the Village.
