SEPTEMBER 2024

On behalf of Fr. Black, Fr. Lynch, and the entire parish, we would like to thank the hundreds of volunteers who planned and implemented our Ministry Weekend. Over a thousand parishioners attended and learned how to become a part of parish life here at St. Brigid of Kildare. Thank you to those who helped create an occasion that brought our parish together and helped parishioners discover how they can be fulfilled through their service to the Church.

Please consider how you can use your many gifts and sign up for ministries by filling out the volunteer form below to join our parish life.

Thank you to the many who have returned their volunteer forms and offertory forms! You can still complete both forms online if you haven't yet. We ask for the offertory commitment forms to be completed by September 30, 2024. If you would like to learn more about the dozens of ministries and committees available at St. Brigid of Kildare, view the Guide to Parish Life at the link below.

SPiCE Legacy Gift Left by Longtime Parishioner Dr. Marion Franken

Dr. Marion Franken was an active parishioner at St. Brigid of Kildare for over 27 years until she passed away November 7, 2023. She and her sister Elaine were a constant presence at Mass and in the parish for years. Marian spent her life in the medical and education fields, which enabled her to utilize her knowledge and skills to help others.

She was devoted to service and lovingly took care of her beloved sister Elaine who passed away at 98 in 2020. She had a wide variety of interests including being an accomplished artist and jewelry creator. Marion was a longtime donor to the SPiCE program at St. Brigid of Kildare because she believed in its mission of supporting the education of children with special learning needs in our school and parish.

Marion’s final gift was a significant bequest in her will to St. Brigid to support the SPiCE program -- a beautiful way to honor and celebrate her life of service to help the children of our parish. Marion’s final wish was for those who are dedicated to the SPiCE program to know that the “service and work you provide is invaluable and cherished by all you touch.”

Marion has left our parish and the SPiCE program an amazing legacy that we will always cherish. Marion, you will be remembered for the many lives you touched during your life and those you will impact in the future. Thank you for your generosity; you will be in our prayers.

If you are interested in remembering St. Brigid of Kildare Parish or School in your estate plannning, please contact Sarah Moore, Development Director at the Parish Office 614-761-3734 or by email smoore@stbrigidofkildare.org.

St. Brigid to be Host Parish of Columbus Catholic Men's Conference

St Brigid Men — We Need Your Help!

The Annual Columbus Catholic Men’s Conference is regarded as one of the largest gatherings of men of faith in the nation — drawing about 2,500 men annually. This one-day event is filled with faith and fellowship, including great speakers, food, faith organizations, Adoration, Reconciliation and the Holy Mass offered by the Bishop.

This year and next, our men of St. Brigid will be in charge of making this conference run smoothly! Our men will oversee everything from parking to registration, meals to seating, and organizing worship and sacramental opportunities. It will take the commitment of more than 100 men from our parish, volunteering on Saturday, February 22, for about 1-2 hours of service. It is a great way to meet other men from our parish, get involved and build your faith. Please consider offering your time and talents to make this a success! Contact Dave Hritzak at DaveHritzak@gmail.com for more information, or to sign up.

Interested in Becoming Catholic? OCIA Sign Up

"Hello! My name is Pamela. I attended the OCIA program at Saint Brigid. Our class was one of the largest and I was honored to be a part of it. I met many wonderful people and learned what it means to be Catholic. It is a way of life, love and charity in the name of Jesus. I've always loved Jesus although I didn't feel like I knew him. I was raised Methodist. I raised three Catholic children and saw their faith. I went through the program with my teenage grandson. My relationship with Jesus is now very personal. I'm thankful I walked into my grandson's room that day and asked him if he still wanted to become Catholic. He said 'yes' and I said 'me too'." — Pamela (OCIA class of 2024)

If you are interested in becoming Catholic, or just learning more about the process, visit our OCIA (formerly known as RCIA) webpage and complete an inquiry form at www.stbrigidofkildare.org/ocia

St. Charles Hosting An Evening With...His Eminence, Cardinal Timothy Dolan

In 1923, St. Charles Preparatory School was founded on the promise that an exceptional education be provided to every young man who was willing to accept the challenge of studying there, regardless of his background or means. As St. Charles continues to meet that founding promise, we invite you to join us on October 10th for our annual event, An Evening With…His Eminence, Cardinal Timothy Dolan. Join us for a conversation with Cardinal Dolan as he shares the importance of Jesus and the Church in our day-to-day lives. Visit www.stcharlesprep.org/giving/an-evening-with to reserve your table as together we work to ensure that all young men receive the gift of a Catholic education. For more information, please contact St. Charles Advancement Director Jaime Lawler at jlawler@scprep.org or at (380) 209-2231.

Eucharistic Adoration Oct 4

You are invited to spend time and prayer in Adoration on Friday, October 4th for First Friday Eucharistic Adoration following the 9:00 AM Mass and concluding at 4:00 PM with Benediction.

"I adore You, Lord and Creator, hidden in the Most Blessed Sacrament. I adore You for all the works of Your hands, that reveal to me so much wisdom, goodness and mercy, O Lord. You have spread so much beauty over the earth and it tells me about Your beauty, even though these beautiful things are but a faint reflection of You, incomprehensible Beauty. And although You have hidden Yourself and concealed your beauty, my eye, enlightened by faith, reaches You and my soul recognizes its Creator, its Highest Good, and my heart is completely immersed in prayer of adoration." St. Faustina (Feast Day: October 5)

Jesus invites you to spend time with him in Eucharistic Adoration and grow in wisdom. All are welcome, including families with children. If you wish to sign up for an hour, please email Shelly Cocumelli at rocks1dad@aol.com.
