In the morning, JP, Gordon, and Anita will be bringing their toe tapping music to the Stage on the Village Green, providing the soundtrack for your Orcas Island Farmer’s Market shopping experience. Bring a blanket and your dancing boots, grab some yummy food, and settle in for old favorites and new gems on fiddle, guitar, bass, and luscious three part vocal harmonies, complete with a smattering of banjo, ukulele, and musical saw. That evening, the trio brings their tunes to the lucky diners at Matthew’s Smokehouse in Deer Harbor. NEW MUSIC COMING TO THE STAGE

WEST MY FRIEND

Orcas Center

Sunday, September 15 at 7pm

In the modern musical landscape, it’s rare to hear something as put-together as Cascadian folk duo West My Friend - something so layered, deeply symphonic, baroque, and mysterious in its own winking way while still courting an edge of disaster. Simple is safe, but complex is fiery, intricate, and ultimately more rewarding. Mingling grassroots guitar, accordion, mandolin, orchestral instruments, and interweaving harmonies, West My Friend is bringing forth a new sound you’ve never known you’ve wanted and new meaning to the things you’ve never known you needed.

ORCAS ISLAND ARTWORKS FEATURED ARTIST

Orcas Island Artworks

11 Point Lawrence Rd in Olga

"Because observation lies at the root of art, no artistic evolution progresses in a straight line – mine is proof enough. My interests are broad, like my choice of medium or subject: from traditional decorative painting and Mediterranean lime plaster to Interior Design, from bronze or ceramic sculpture to oil painting on canvas or verre églomisé. There is no subject I’ve broached that I have not considered indispensable to the subsequent one, no matter how seemingly disparate – be it a philosophical idea, an emotion, a portrait, or a bird."

Learn more about Ina's artistic journey at the gallery, open daily from 10am to 5pm.
