REV. JEN BUTLER

Join Rev. Jen Butler, founder in residence of Faith in Public Life and author of Who Stole My Bible?, for the Faith in Democracy Tour at Dayspring Tempe on October 2. Rev. Butler will speak about the threat of white Christian nationalism during both the 9:00 and 10:30 services and will hold a 2:00 lecture and Q&A session to inspire and equip communities to reclaim our faith and protect our democracy.  The 2:00 lecture will be livestreamed at dayspring-umc.org/watch. WEEKEND CONCERTS

We host two concerts this weekend in Tempe:


Friday, September 30,at 7:30pm, the ASU Concert Choir presents an informal program as part of the American Choral Directors Association Student Symposium.


Saturday, October 1, at 2:00pm, we host the Phoenix Children's Encore Chorus, ASU Gospel Choir and ASU Concert Choir in the closing concert of the symposium.


Both concerts are free and all are welcome to attend!

CANTILENA CONCERT

Hear the sublime Schubert Mass in G and the joyful and exuberant Rutter Magnificat performed by the premiere choral ensemble Arizona Cantilena Chorale and full orchestra under the direction of Dr. Dave Thye. The concert is at 4:00pm next Saturday, October 8, in the Tempe Sanctuary. Free will donations are appreciated and no tickets are required. more

MIDWEEK BIBLE STUDY

A series of four Wednesday morning studies entitled The Gospel of Matthew: Background and Overview begins Wednesday, October 12. Facilitated by Pastor Bob Mitchell, a retired Elder in the Desert Southwest Conference, the study will meet on Wednesday Mornings from 10:00 - 11:15am via Zoom. Email Andrea to register.

CAREGIVING BOOK STUDY

Christian Caregiving, A Way of Life, by pastor and psychologist, Kenneth Haugh, is an inspirational guide for adults who would like to improve the quality of care they give to the people around them—family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, customers and clients. Taught by two of Dayspring’s Stephen Ministry leaders, this class is open to anyone from our Dayspring communities who would like to learn more. This class will meet weekly for five weeks both in person and online on Mondays starting October 17, from 6:30 – 7:45pm. To sign up, please email Suzanne.

Our refugee ministry is currently co-sponsoring a Congolese couple through Matthew House. If you speak French and are available to help translate, please email Paola.

FALL FESTIVAL - TICKETS ON SALE

Our annual Fall Festival returns on October 22 at 4:00! You don't want to miss it! There will be food, games, crafts, haunted house, bounce house, trunk-or-treating, and so much more! Pre-sale tickets will be available on the patio starting this Sunday and in the church office on Monday and Thursday mornings. The pre-sale price is 50 tickets for $20. All are welcome, so please tell your friends and neighbors. Proceeds support the Dayspring Youth Ministry Sierra Service Project trip.

CURRENT DONATION REQUESTS

New and gently used baseball caps for asylum seekers. Please leave donations in the collection box outside the church office. (Ongoing)


New and gently used books to refill the Little Free Library by our Giving Garden. Current children’s books are in the highest demand, as are young adult fiction. (Through October 2)
