IMMIGRATION & BORDER JUSTICE
Join other members of the Desert Southwest Conference and the DSC-RACE Coalition for a conversation on Immigration and Justice at the Border. The participants will be Professor Ernesto Todd Mireles from Prescott College; Immigration Attorney, Margo Cowan from Keep Tucson Together; and “Dreamers.” Franceny Gardea and Sergio Gonzalez. The event will take place at 1:00pm this Saturday, September 25, and will be streamed live HERE.
THE BOOK OF JAMES - STUDY & SERIES
Join Pastor Jeff for a sermon series beginning this Sunday, September 26, and a concurrent “Pastor’s Bible Study on the Book of James,” Thursdays at Noon & 5:30pm, Sept 30, Oct 7, 14, 21.

The Letter of James belongs to the wisdom literature tradition in the Bible – like Proverbs and Ecclesiastes. Unlike Paul’s epistles, which were addressed to churches, James is more of an exhortation to individuals regarding the Christian life. The basics of faith are assumed; it speaks to how one lives out one’s spirituality. With its 54 imperative verbs, James is an urgent demand for an active faith. It’s been said that the Letter of James is like taking a cold shower – uncomfortable but invigorating! Together we'll read this practical book and consider its concrete advice for living faithfully.
BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS
You are invited to bring your animal companions (in a carrier or on a leash) to church for a special blessing this Sunday, October 17, at noon. Church is the place where the bond of creation is celebrated. Every creature is important. The love we give to and receive from our animal companions can draw us more deeply into the larger circle of life, and into the wonder of our common relationship to our Creator. If you would like your animal blessed but are not able to bring them for any reason, a photo may be blessed instead.
BIRTHDAY CARD SHOWER

REFUGEE FOCUS

ASYLUM SEEKERS MINISTRY
Our ministry with asylum seekers is still in need of donations. The International Rescue Committee continues to receive from 100 to 200 people per day. This has resulted in constantly depleted stocks of clothing, shoes and other items, including smaller adult size casual pants/jeans and tennis/athletic shoes, sturdy work boots, flip-flops, disposable razors, travel-size shaving cream and nail clippers. Please email Pastor Jim O’Neal to arrange for items to be picked up. Learn more
CHILDREN'S MINISTRY CLOTHING DRIVE
As part of our ongoing Project Hope Mission project, we are proud to have built three wells in Liberia with the help of Prince Mayson and the Mayson family. We are partnering again for a Children’s Shoes and Clothing Drive to deliver to children in the communities in and around where our previous wells have been built. Please bring gently used clothes and shoes, as well as new toothbrushes and toothpastes to the donation bins in the Narthex by October 31. Please email Emily with questions.
SAVE THE DATE!
The Dayspring Fall Festival is back! Join our Children's and Youth Ministries on October 23 from 5-8pm. There will be games, crafts, bouncy castles, obstacle course, climbing wall and much more. Presale tickets will be available on the patio and at the church office beginning in October and are 50 for $20 or $.50 a ticket at the door. (Fifty tickets is about enough for two kids to do everything at the festival). All are invited to join us for this event; proceeds support the Dayspring Youth Ministry's Sierra Service Project trip.
