REV. DR. DEREK WEBBER, CHAIR OF DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRIES OF THE UMC, WILL BE SPEAKING. THERE WILL BE A CARRY-IN LUNCH FOLLOWING THE SERVICE. OUR CHURCH MEMBERS ARE ASKED TO BRING DESSERTS. ALL 3 CHURCHES WILL HAVE AN OFFERING PLATE FOR YOUR REGULAR GIVING. THERE WILL ALSO BE A SPECIAL BOX FOR DONATIONS OF NEW SOCKS & UNDERWEAR FOR KID'S CLOSET.

From The Pastor..

I grew up in Chicago and when I was a child, my parents sent me to a church school: Nazareth Lutheran Church and School on the city's South side.

From kindergarten through 8th grade, the classrooms beside the church at the corner of 60th and Spaulding were my home away from home. And it was in the third or fourth grade I found and fell in love with Psalm 150.

Our verse this month is from Psalm 150, specifically, verse 6. But let me share another translation of this same chapter from a different translation of the bible. From The Message:

GROWING YOUNG STUDY

Pastor Chris will be leading a study entitled "Growing Young" on Wednesdays, starting September 18th, at 7:00 p.m. in the church meeting room. The study will last 8 weeks. Please see Pastor Chris if you are interested. Books are available now!

LITTLE LIGHTS PRESCHOOL

Well, I had my last first day of preschool on Monday, August 19th. I will be retiring at the end of this school year. I am only having one MWF class this year that is comprised of my previous T/TH students and a few new students. Preschool has gotten off to a good start.

We have 14 preschoolers in the class this year. Our preschoolers are getting used to our class routine and spending time away from their parents.

We started the year off with activities on shapes. During September, the class will work on the following shapes: square, triangle, rectangle, and diamond.

The students will enjoy looking for objects in the room that have the shape we are working on that week.

Our preschoolers will hear stories about Daniel. They will learn that God watches over them no matter where they are.

They have really been enjoying the outdoor Play Area!

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

We will meet on Tuesday, September 10th, at 1:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Nila Beauchamp will be presenting the program. All women are invited!!!
