We are excited to announce we are officially a PA Forward Gold Star Library!
What does this mean?
We are dedicated to providing our community programming that reflects and promotes the five literacies, Basic Literacy, Information Literacy, Civic and Social Literacy, Health Literacy, and Financial Literacy. You can see what literacy each of our programs promotes in the newsletter and all of our promotional materials throughout the library.
You can read more about PA Forward Libraries, here.
In August we had some cooler days that teased the fall days that are to come. Those couple of cooler days made me crave spookier books, and I found two that met that craving!
You'd Look Better as a Ghost by Joanna Wallace is a cheeky novel following artist Claire, who also happens to be a serial killer. However, before Claire kills her victims they begin to fade in her vision, like a ghost. This had one of the most satisfying endings I have experienced in a long time! The second book, Bless Your Heart by Lindy Ryan, is a new five-star read for me. Four generations of Evans women live in a Small Town in Southeast Texas where they run Evans Funeral Home, and provide an extra service the rest of the town doesn't realize they are receiving; making sure the dead, stay dead. I absolutely ate this up, and it was the perfect summer-to-fall transition book.
Happy reading and see you at the library!
Marija Skoog, Library Director
mlskoog@mclinc.org
See what I'm reading on Storygraph!
