September is here and fall starts September 22nd. I hope you all had a great summer and can squeeze in some last-minute fun to wrap up your summer. Our final event for the summer was the Lisle Uncorked wine event. I’ve talked to a few of our members who attended the event, and we all agree it was a lot of fun and a huge success. Thanks to everybody who was involved in the event including the sponsors, Chamber staff, everyone on the committee and everybody who volunteered at the event. We wouldn’t be able to have these events without the support of our sponsors and volunteers.
Our Downtown Business Council will meet September 5th. This Committee meets once a month and focuses on promoting Downtown Lisle. This is a great opportunity for all local businesses to exchange ideas and stay informed about the latest developments in the downtown area. At the September 5th meeting there will be discussion and planning for the Downtown Lisle Trick-or-Treating event scheduled for October 26th as well as an update by the Village Manager, Eric Ertmoed. All are welcome, members and non-members, to attend this meeting.
Also on the calendar is a Ribbon Cutting at Pulse Studio. The Ribbon Cutting will be held September 19th, 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. We look forward to celebrating their 18 years in business and touring their studio.
Looking ahead to fall, be sure to mark your calendars for the Turkey Trot Tune-Up 5k which is scheduled for November 17th at Lisle Community Park. Sponsorship and volunteer opportunities are available. You can contact the Chamber office for more information.

AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT
Amy Thomas-Stompanato

This month's featured Ambassador is Amy Thomas-Stompanato. Amy has been a Chamber member and involved with the Ambassador Committee for about 5 years. She enjoys being an Ambassador because she can meet new people and share ideas, leads and learn about other businesses and how we can help each other.
Amy is the Office Manager at Park East Office Suites. She manages the office by handling the day-to-day needs of her tenants. They have virtual tenants and for those tenants, they answer their phones for them as a receptionist and take messages or transfer the call to the tenant. They handle the mail for their tenants so the tenant can have a business address. Amy has been in this field for about 6 years.
Amy lives in Lisle with her Shi Tzu, Macie. She likes to travel and her next trip will be to Scotland to visit a friend. Amy has adult twins, who are grown. Her daughter is a DNP in the Acute Care ICU at Vanderbilt in Nashville. Her son is a Senior Data Engineer at Abbott Labs, and she occasionally finds out what he is working on after the project is completed. Amy's favorite bit of wisdom is what you put into your work, life and family is what you get back in life.

Wow, what a busy month here at the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce. Lisle Uncorked, A Wine Event was a success. A special shout out to the Museums at Lisle Station Park and the Lisle Park District, for the amazing event space. So many attendees commented about how they didn’t know these Museums were in Lisle and many are long term residents. Many thanks to our Wine Committee Chairman, Michael Toohey from Four Lakes Recreation. This month we have a couple of special Committee meetings. At the Chamber’s Downtown Business Council meeting on Thursday, September 5th at 9:00 a.m. in the Lisle Village Hall Board Room, Village Manager, Eric Ertmoed, will be delivering a presentation on important updates on the Village, Downtown Businesses and projects coming to Lisle. This meeting is open to all businesses in Lisle. Then on Wednesday, September 11th at 8:15 a.m., Illinois State Representative, Terra Costa Howard, will meet and speak at the Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee meeting.
I’m sharing some interesting information from the DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau Executive Director, Beth Marchetti that I thought you the Members would find interesting. “2023 visitor numbers were recently released by the state, with all industry metrics for DuPage County showing positive increases. Visitor spending in DuPage reached $3.18 billion in 2023 — an increase of 6.4% from 2022. Be on the lookout in the coming weeks for DCVB’s full Economic Impact of Visitors Report. Governor J.B. Pritzker recently announced another record-breaking year for Illinois tourism. Illinois welcomed 110.2 million domestic and 2.2 million international visitors who spent $47 billion in 2023 – an increase of 1 million visitors and $3 billion in spending from 2022, according to data provided by Tourism Economics. Visitor spending in 2023 surpassed 2019 levels for the first time, reaching 4% above its pre-pandemic benchmark. As a result of tourist spending and visits in 2023, the overall economic impact – which includes indirect and induced impacts – amounted to $83 billion, which is a 6.4% increase from 2022 figures. Of important note, international visitation showed an increase of 39%, with international visitors spending nearly $2.7 billion in Illinois. This provides strong momentum for when Chicago welcomes IPW 2025 and DuPage County welcomes the 2026 Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club”.
