Uranus Stations Retrograde September 1, 2024

The following is adapted from past descriptions about Uranus stationing retrograde, since its meaning does not change, but what does change is the sign it is in, and where it will be in relationship to other planets in the sky and in your chart. Because it retrogrades for five months every year, it means that it is retrograde almost as long as it is direct, and that we may not even notice any changes during its retrograde or direct cycle, but what is important is the space that it occupies, and the times that it crosses the degree where it stations retrograde and direct. If it conjoins a planet, angle, or point in your chart, that will be important, since the retrograde cycle, only encompasses four degrees over a period of five months, so I will talk a little about where it has been the last few months, when it returns, and when it goes direct. At the end of the article you can see where it is in your own chart and make an assessment. Just like in the last few autumn seasons, Uranus moving retrograde joins Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto so that at least until November 15, when Saturn stations direct, there will be four planets retrograde, and of those the outer planets. Pluto will go direct on October 12, but Jupiter will have gone retrograde on October 9th. That means that as a general rule, always expect the unexpected in the world, and while I know many of you are thinking about the U.S. election, that may only be one consideration, since the world is not dependent on the United States and other countries have their own trajectories (even though the U.S. has a great influence in the world.) Because Uranus will be retrograde for five months, it is really the week before and after the retrograde that we may expect things to happen in the world, and in our lives, that makes us scratch our heads. It also means that the four degrees between the date that it goes retrograde and direct (see above) are what are most important for your charts and in the world. It also means that as a general rule, things will move in a very unexpected way, either quickly, or taking another course of action, and that involves work, relationships, finances, health, etc. Be prepared for any sudden changes that may occur.

As far as Uranus goes, the planet of change, excitement, and unexpected events (as well as many other things) retrogrades for about five months each year, so in general it may not change anything dramatic while it retrogrades. However it does mean around this station on September 1st, Uranus stands still but it has already slowed down in the last two weeks. There may be events in the world that are unexpected and have a huge impact though it may not be clear immediately what that impact is. So if you really think about the period from about August 16th through September 1st this is when Uranus is hovering around the stationary point as well as another week through September 8th. This could indicate major earth changes or disasters that have to do with electricity, so that if there are fires, there can be electrical fires, and storms that cause blackouts but more than usual. We could see new strains of illnesses (in fact there are reports that in war-torn Gaza polio is rearing its ugly head), and on the flip side, there might be some cures or breakthroughs in science, technology and even food and nutrition, that will create positive changes, though because Uranus will retrograde for five months, we could hear about these things, but may not manifest or be approved and accepted. Financial markets may also be unpredictable for better or for worse. This also goes along with the fact that it has been intimated that interest rates may be lowered, so by the time Uranus goes direct in five months, real estate will boom again. Do take notice of the week before and after the Sun-Uranus opposition on November 16, 2024, since that is midway between the retrograde cycle, and the most intense time of the cycle.

Although I do not like to talk about politics or predict election results in this newsletter, I do find it noteworthy that at least in the United States, on Friday August 23rd, 9 days prior to the actual Uranus Retrograde station, RFK Jr. suspended his campaign and endorsed Donale Trump. That was of course completely surprising and unexpected, since Kennedy comes from a longstanding Democratic family. On another note, retrograde Uranus will retrograde back to the same degree it was on July 13, when someone attempted to assassinate Donald Trump, resulting, in the tragic death of a supporter, and hospitalization of a few others. That will occur at Tropical 26 Taurus 15. Sidereal. 2 Taurus 9, on October 22nd, and then will go direct over that degree on April 29, 2025. Uranus has not strayed that much from that degree, but it will be exact again at least a week before and after October 22nd, which could mean to watch October 15-29 for what used to be called an October Surprise when it comes to the U.S. election. Because Uranus will exactly conjoin the Uranus of July 13, as well as still be close to join the Uranus of July 21, when Biden withdrew running for President and endorsed Kamala Harris, something may happen when it comes to the election or the people running that alters it in some way. This has already become a Uranus-themed few months, because in July when the above two events occurred, Uranus and Mars were conjunct, which added to the suddenness of both events. This is just something that I have been thinking about since sometimes these planets do bring unexpected events, that are very consequential. It is NOT necessarily anything tragic, but just something unexpected that may change the course of the election or the people running. This has happened during many elections and thus the term "October Surprise" was coined.

More important is to look at the degree where it stations and see if that degree conjoins, opposes or squares a planet, point, or angle in your chart and realize that this area may need to change, either because you want it to and will work towards transformation or because something you have no control over occurs and forces you to look at change. But in that case you can then work with that change and try to make something happen, though it could take a while since Uranus will be at the point it stations several times.

Read if you use sidereal Indian astrology. If you have a planet, point, or angle in your chart between 29° Aries 09’-3° Taurus 09’ where Uranus retrogrades, it will hit those degrees three times when Uranus is direct, retrograde, and direct between May 17, 2024—May 19, 2025. If you have something on one of the stationary retrograde or direct degrees, it will be there twice with the station being very potent since it will be there for two weeks sometimes longer. Whatever the planet, point, or angle represents, is where change should occur, and sometimes suddenly and without warning, so be prepared for the unexpected.
