Walking Just 4,000 Steps a Day May Lower Dementia Risk

Taking as many steps as you can in a day by walking or doing other physical activities offers many health benefits, like preventing heart disease, lowering blood pressure, and relieving stress.
According to a new study published in JAMA Neurology, your daily step count may offer some protection against dementia. The researchers found that walking between 3,800 steps and 9,800 steps daily may help lower a person’s risk for cognitive decline. Click here for the full article.

Toledo on Track: Disability and Aging-Friendly Rail
The Ability Center, Northwest Ohio's nonprofit Center for Independent Living (CIL) has identified transportation as an important issue that affects what access individuals with a disability have to the community. So the Ability Center has created the "Disability and Aging Rail Coalition" (DARC) to advocate for creating more accessible passenger rail service to serve Northwest Ohio, using federal infrastructure funds made available the past few years. All About Us is a cooperative, life-story-telling board game in which all players share their stories and explore their lives with each other.
This game can help people with dementia in many ways.
It helps them connect with, and recall, positive memories. It sparks conversations, thus promoting quality time with family, friends, and caregivers across all generations - helping the person with dementia feel less lonely. And having other players show interest in the opinions and experiences of that person helps boost their morale and self-esteem.
