PPI encourages you to participate in P2 Week, Sept. 18-22


P2 Week is an opportunity for individuals and businesses to focus on how to reduce pollution to our land, water, and air, as well as reducing the use of harmful chemicals--all with the ultimate objective of providing safer and healthier places to live and work.

PPI Intern Program


More than 100 Kansas companies have participated in the intern program, utilizing it to enhance energy efficiency, reduce and prevent pollution, decrease environmental emissions and save money. The host company application process is open now through Dec. 31, 2023. Apply now!

Free Fall 2023 Hazardous Waste Generator Workshops


The basic workshop (9 a.m.-Noon) is designed as an introductory course in Kansas HW Regulations (RCRA).


The advanced workshop (1-4 p.m.) will provide a more detailed look at the following: 

  • Regulatory updates
  • e-Manifest Solvent-Contaminated Wipes Rule
  • K, U, and P-Listings
  • F-Listings
  • Used oil requirements

Online hazardous waste training


Hazardous waste handlers are required to complete training annually, and new employees must be trained within six months of taking a position that requires they handle hazardous waste. This training needs to be documented and maintained for at least three years. 


PPI offers online training that includes a certificate of completion for $50 per user.

Promoting Sustainability and Environmental Justice: A Local Event to Spark Change

In an effort to raise awareness about the impact of local industries and foster sustainable practices, PPI is hosting an event on Nov. 16 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Public Health Department Auditorium located at 619 Ann Ave., Kansas City. 


This event will highlight the critical intersections between industry innovation, pollution reduction, and environmental justice, with a goal to foster positive impacts within the local community through increased awareness and collaborative efforts.


Leveraging local industry expertise, including insights from representatives of Darling Ingredients, we will address pressing environmental issues, aiming to inspire and encourage a pathway to positive change. Join us for an engaging discussion complemented by light refreshments. Register for the event here.
