Hello
There is so much positive business development activity in Frederick right now it is no wonder that our community is one of the job creation leaders in Maryland. This month’s DED Business eNews is focused on the incredible retail, commercial and industrial opportunities across the city from spec built, build-to-suit, and adaptive reuse. In fact, I am writing this eNews intro between meetings with Maryland DHDC Secretary Jake Day who is meeting with businesses, main streets, and builders here in Frederick about the opportunities and challenges. Outside Magazine just named Frederick one of the top 15 Happiest Cities in America – due in part to access to outdoor recreation, jobs, and quality of place for residents.
Next month we are meeting with Maryland Commerce Secretary Kevin Anderson about business development activities in Frederick. Together, DHCD and Commerce have assisted the city and local businesses with millions in grants and loans over the past decade. Frankly, Frederick is fortunate to have had such financial and technical assistance. Recently, in his annual 2023 State, Mayor O’Connor addressed the community sharing insight about the Good Jobs Great Cities program that Frederick was awarded by the National League of Cities and US Department of Labor. He also shared stories of opportunities for adaptive reuse of buildings and land for new businesses, housing, and much more. DED tracks proposed projects on our businessinfrederick.com website so you can also follow these opportunities and more.
Frederick is working hard to buy local and buy small – so check out the opportunities to do business with the City on the purchasing portal.
Ride On…
