IDDSI Board Meeting – saying Farewell ☹ and Welcome 😊
The IDDSI Board of Directors had the opportunity to meet just prior to the Asia conference in Kuala Lumpur for their AGM and Strategic Planning meeting. As in 2022, there were further transitions to the membership of the IDDSI Board of Directors. We are thrilled to be welcoming:
Carlo Pedrolli – from Trento, Italy and Josefa Kachal from Kiryat Shmona, Israel who will begin their terms on the Board of Directors in January 2024.
We also had the difficult task of bidding farewell to Catriona Steele and Julie Cichero who are stepping down from the IDDSI Board of Directors after 10 years of incredible contributions to the Board.
Julie Cichero, along with Peter Lam was key in bringing the dream of a common global language for dysphagia diets that would help improve safety for all who experience difficulty swallowing. Julie served as Co-chair of IDDSI from 2012 -2022 and took the lead in producing 2 of the key IDDSI publications https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s40141-013-0024-z and https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00455-016-9758-y as well as many, many of the wonderful resources found on the IDDSI website.
Catriona Steele has also been part of the IDDSI Board from the beginning and was instrumental in leading the systematic review https://rd.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00455-014-9578-x upon which the IDDSI Framework evolved. Her tremendous knowledge and skill in research has been invaluable to the board.
The IDDSI Board would like to acknowledge the outstanding contributions made by Julie and Catriona and to extend our deepest and ongoing appreciation for helping the IDDSI dream become a reality.
