Like no time before, the past 18 months have shown us all just how important our homes are. Speaking from personal experience, I’ve spent more time at home during the course of the pandemic than in the past 20 years combined, or so it seems. The stability and security that my home has provided my family during this public health crisis has been vital; but stable housing hasn’t always been a constant in my life, and the same is true for far too many of our neighbors across the region and the state.

Our New Financial Opportunity Center (FOC)
Stay tuned for news of our upcoming grand opening celebration!
We are excited to share new services for Charlottesville and the surrounding community. We have officially moved into office space in the heart of Charlotteville at 806 East High Street to establish the Charlottesville region’s first LISC Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) with a Housing Hub. The FOC is designed to catalyze economic transformation for lower-income families and is guided by voices from our community.
At this one-stop location, community members will be connected to employment and career counseling, financial coaching, financial resources such as income supports, and other assistance through an integrated model. Increased financial stability is a priority in the neighborhoods we serve, and this innovative approach will prepare individuals for the workplace and beyond.
We are thankful to our partners who will also provide services at the FOC:
Thomas Jefferson Area Coalition for the Homeless
Legal Aid Justice Center
Habitat for Humanity
Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority
International Rescue Committee
Monticello Area Community Action Agency
United Way of Greater Charlottesville
