Dear CIM Supporters,

Fall term at the Center for Irish Music starts in just five days! We look forward to seeing you for another exciting year of tunes, songs and camaraderie. If weekly lessons don't fit into your schedule, be sure to join us for The Harvest Home Traditional Music Day on Saturday September 22nd.

The Center for Irish Music is proud to be bringing Grammy-nominated fiddler Liz Carroll, NEA-Heritage Fellow Billy McComiskey and legendary DADGAD guitarist, Dáithí Sproule to Saint Paul for The Harvest Home Traditional Music Day - a day of music workshops, an interview of Liz Carroll and Master Artist Concert. To save money, register and/or purchase concert tickets by August 31st .

Welcome home to the students & families who attended the All-Ireland Fleadh in Drogheda! Congratulations to all of the students who performed and a particular kudos to Victoria Pierce who came in 3rd in the accompaniment competition on guitar.

Finally, thanks to each and every volunteer who supported us at the Irish Fair booth and our Open House last Sunday afternoon. We appreciate your time and generosity immensely.

This September newsletter is full of news, photos and more. Enjoy the tail-end of summer as you settle into the routine of fall.

Norah Rendell
Executive Artistic Director

Lend a hand by volunteering for our Éigse or Fundraising Committees
Volunteering at the Center for Irish Music is fun and gratifying. We love working with volunteers who are passionate about the Irish music community! Right now, we're looking for volunteers for the following committees:

Éigse CIM, A Gaela Event Planning Committee
Éigse, our annual fundraiser featuring dinner, a concert, and silent auction, takes a dedicated group of volunteers to run smoothly. This year's event is scheduled for February 23, 2019. We are looking for planning committee members who are available during the weekdays (between 9am - 3pm) and occasional weekends. The planning committee meets once-a-month between September - March, with a few extra meetings in January & February. At this time, we're in particular need of help with:
  • Silent Auction organizing and cataloging
  • Decor cataloging and implementation
  • Volunteer outreach & coordination
  • Mailing and marketing distribution

Fundraising Committee
We're excited to launch a new committee to support CIM's fundraising efforts. If you have experience with grant writing, community outreach, communications, or just enjoy sharing your enthusiasm for the CIM, this is the committee for you!

If you are interested or would like to learn more, please contact Aja McCullough Beers , Events & Communications Coordinator.
Support the Celtic Junction's Mural on the Midway
We are excited about this project spearheaded by the Celtic Junction Arts Center . In collaboration with artists Marty Ochs and Carrie Finnegan, Executive Director Natalie O'Shea has co-created an eye-catching 4-panel mural, a public work that will bring more visibility to all of our organizations. Here's to bringing an artistic flair to the Hamline-Midway area! If you haven't had a chance already, we are encouraging CIM students & supporters to chip in what you can to help complete the mural . Any donation makes a difference.
