A Message from the President:
Dear Carondelet Community,
It was wonderful to see parents/guardians for Back to School Night! It’s always a great night to welcome families to campus to meet their student's teachers and get a sense of our all-class Monday schedule.
This Labor Day weekend kicks off a busy September. Academics, athletics, and student activities are in full swing and building momentum. The School Calendar on the Carondelet website is a good resource to keep up with all that is occurring on campus. You can also “subscribe” by clicking the red button under the monthly calendar to feed our events and schedules into your personal electronic calendar. Fall sports are also in full swing, so visit our Carondelet Athletics Website and follow us on Instagram (@carondeletcougars) to keep in touch with Cougar Athletics.
I do want to highlight a few things to look forward to this week:
Junior Immersions
This week kicks off our Junior Immersions in their Symbols and Ethics class. Each junior religion class will have the opportunity during fall semester to participate in direct service to the dear neighbor at the Monument Crisis Center. This is a chance for our students to interact with those in need and recognize their God-given human dignity.
College Counseling Updates
On Wednesday, College Counseling will be hosting the first of their monthly “Lunch and Learns” for freshmen and sophomores who are interested in hearing about a variety of college and career-related topics. Please have your student register if they plan to attend. On Thursday, colleges will be on campus to introduce their schools and answer questions as part of an Out-of-State College Fair from 1:30 - 3:30 PM in the Amphitheater. Colleges who will be there include: the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Oregon State University, the University of Tennessee, and Texas Christian University.
CHS/DLS Choir Singing at the A’s Game
The Combined Choir students will be performing the National Anthem prior to the game at this Wednesday’s game, and are selling tickets now. Come out and support our Cougar and Spartan student musicians at this fun community building event.
September is already off with a bang! Please stay tuned for other major events this month, including Club Fair and Frosh Alpha Retreat (deadline to register is Friday!). Thank you for your continued partnership and support—we are grateful for our Cougar families!
Do the ordinary good with extraordinary care. ~ Maxim 89

Last Chance to Register for Alpha Retreat!
Campus Ministry is keeping the registration form open through tonight, Sunday, September 1, for anyone who missed the deadline. You can find retreat information here and register here.
Cell Phones & Screen Time Resources
Keeping up with technology, social media platforms, and current trends can often feel overwhelming. Our students are often on the cutting edge, and it can be difficult to hold them accountable and ensure that they are making age-appropriate choices when we ourselves are not in the know. Common Sense Media and its partners are working to build a healthy, equitable, and empowering future for all kids in the digital age. They have dozens of helpful articles aimed at parents, including guides to Snapchat and TikTok, tips for the best privacy settings, and how to help teens balance phones, screens, and sleep.
Attendance Reminders
Attendance is taken each class period of the day. If a student will miss class for any reason, a parent/guardian must notify the Attendance Coordinator, Nicole Ebert, as soon as possible by:
When emailing, please use the subject line to indicate early pick up or out all day. This helps with workflow.
No Food Service Delivery
For the safety and security of our community, we do not allow food service deliveries (e.g., DoorDash, Uber Eats, etc.) on campus. Food dropped off from delivery services will be confiscated or returned to the vendor.
School Store Orders
Please make sure to have your student pick up their school store orders. All the purchases will be available for pick up at the Convent in the stairwell. Purchases are in alphabetical order. Contact Angie Hatfield, Proforma, if you cannot find your order.
Cell Phone Policy
To help foster engagement in the classroom, students are expected to turn their phones into the classroom cell phone pockets at the beginning of each class period. There are also specific schoolwide events where phones will not be allowed. For these reasons, we want to remind parents to call Nicole Ebert directly (ext. 116) in the Attendance Office with any urgent needs.
Lunch: MySchoolBucks by Epicurean
Epicurean provides high-quality, healthy meals for Carondelet’s students, faculty, and staff to purchase. Current students who have a MySchoolBucks account can add money to their account now. New students can add money to their account once they have received their student school ID number (in early August). Follow the instructions on this page and select Carondelet High School (Concord) from the dropdown menu in MySchoolBucks. If you have any questions setting up your account, please contact Epicurean directly by emailing General Manager Candace Barnes.
View the Garaventa Cafe webpage for more information about food options and Epicurean.

Reminder of Student Device Policy
|
Reminder of Student Device Policy
We have noticed that sophomore students are coming to school with multiple devices. This is a gentle reminder that freshmen and sophomores are equipped with a school-issued iPad, and no other device is authorized (with the exception of students enrolled in AP Comp Sci who are allowed to bring a computer for THAT class). The iPads are school-managed devices, and the apps they include are chosen for a reason. In addition, the school’s choice of the iPad for our program is specifically because it is NOT a laptop. We use the tool a lot for its ability to provide students with the kinetic advantages of handwriting, the portability of e-readers, and the availability of content-creation applications. Freshmen and sophomores who bring laptops will be asked to put them away and must use their iPads.
