A Campus for the Creative Spirit

The mornings are cool and the maple leaves are tinged with red..it’s fall, y’all! We look back fondly on summer while charging towards autumn. We closed out the Car Park series with the biggest concert of the season and held a wonderful fundraiser, are prepping for Art Harvest in two weeks (we have a fantastic schedule, see it below!), with Zombie Crawl on the horizon. Jennifer and I too, are heading back to school, as we get ready to teach homeschool once again. Soon we will be surrounded by pumpkin spice and sweaters.
I’m all for it.

Our Art Harvest Schedule!
We are so excited to announce our Art Harvest schedule, a family-friendly day celebrating the arts and the autumn season. Enjoy the gardens, watch artists demonstrate, view a quilt show, and grab a zucchini muffin.

A SPECIAL DANCE PERFORMANCE will be happening under the Pavilion at Storybook Gardens at 11am. A trio of professional dancers from the Twin Cities will be performing. Don’t miss this free opportunity to see these talented dancers.
From Choreographer Scott Stafford -"This work is a love letter to my time spent in the old growth forest reserve of Sylvania Wilderness. There, harmony exists in nuanced chaos - supportive of one another, in patient patterns of growth."
"Hemlock - Maple - White Pine"
A new performance work inspired by the trees of the Northwoods. Set to a piano score by Tristan Eckerson, each performer interprets the unique qualities of a respective tree to inspire their performance - together creating a forest landscape in dance.

LOLA was recently awarded a Creation and Presentation Program Grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board!
This grant was used to purchase 8 plein air easels and offer low-cost outdoor oil painting experiences beginning this past summer. They are lightweight, adjustable wooden easels that artists can take on a variety of terrain to paint outside. “En plein aire” is French for painting outdoors, and gives artists the opportunity to capture the changing light and true colors of landscapes. (Check out our class Saturday, September 17th!)
