THE MUSICAL COMEDY MURDERS OF 1940

A Very Funny Murder Mystery!

Book by John Bishop

Directed by Connie Mockenhaupt

May 24th – June 23rd

Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30 PM

Sundays at 4:30 PM

Note: There will be a 2:00pm show on Saturday instead of the 7:30 show. Seniors can get in for only $10.

Rated: PG

Synopsis: The creative team responsible for a recent Broadway flop (in which three chorus girls were murdered by the mysterious “Stage Door Slasher”) assemble for a backer’s audition of their new show at the Westchester estate of a wealthy “angel.” The house is replete with sliding panels, secret passageways and a German maid who is apparently four different people—all of which figure diabolically in the comic mayhem which follows when the infamous “Slasher” makes his reappearance and strikes again—and again. As the composer, lyricist, actors and director prepare their performance, and a blizzard cuts off any possible retreat, bodies start to drop in plain sight, knives spring out of nowhere, masked figures drag their victims behind swiveling bookcases and accusing fingers point in all directions!

ROCK OF AGES

Opening June 15

Book by Chris D’Arienzo

Arrangements and Orchestrations by Ethan Popp

Directed by Kate Rolls

Music Direction by Christine Irish

Choreography by Keira LePage & Devin LePage

June 15th – July 14th

Rated: PG

It is 1987, and the fabled West Hollywood club the Bourbon Room is the seedy, sordid, vibrant heart of the Sunset Strip. The music venue has seen better days, but as run by chilled-out former rock impresario Dennis Dupree, and tended to by Dennis’s mischievous assistant Lonny, it is the essence of rock and roll. When bright-eyed young hopeful Sherrie Christian, a small-town girl who wants to make it as an actress, arrives in town, she bumps into Drew, a Bourbon Room busboy with dreams of rock and roll stardom. Love-struck Drew convinces Dennis to hire Sherrie, and the stage seems set for their romance. But when the Mayor of West Hollywood, persuaded by a couple of scheming German real estate developers, announces his intention to demolish the Bourbon Room and the entire gritty Sunset Strip, the stakes are raised.

Rock of Ages is a big, brash, energetic tribute to classic rock, to over-the-top ballads and fierce guitar, to the gritty glamor and rough energy of the Sunset Strip. This jukebox musical features ‘80s hits such as “We Built this City”, “I Wanna Rock”, and “Don’t Stop Believin’”.

In this class, each student will learn what it truly means to be an actor. Everything learned can be applied to being in a musical, performing a solo, or even preparing for a monologue. Participants will play theatre games, block and perform numbers from various musicals, prepare solos, work on cold readings, and hone their audition technique. Participants will learn how to make their performance come to life. If you love to sing, act, and perform then this is the class for you!
