I wish everyone a Merry and Joyful holiday season. The office will be closed from Friday the 24th and opening January 4th 2022. Over this break I intend to put together a newsletter with more detailed information to support some of the following comments and recommendations.
- It appears the messenger RNA vaccines for COVID-19 have failed the primary objective of preventing illness. Given the amount of reported change in the latest version of COVID-19 (Omicron), I do not advise seeking more boosters. We need a different vaccine and plan if we want to improve infection rates and lower ever-rising case reports.
- If you have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 the data suggest you are less likely to have severe disease. The data is suggesting this benefit is waning as time goes on.
- Data from Honduras strongly supports the idea of stepped therapy for acute COVID. The protocol used there included: Ivermectin, Azithromycin, Zinc, vitamin D If signs and symptoms of significant inflammatory response 5-7 days into illness steroids plus/minus anticoagulation medications are critical. Since Delta I have offered Ivermectin, antihistamines, Ibuprofen (if not contraindicated), Zinc, C and D. RegenCov monoclonal antibody injection has also been a game-changer. We don’t know how well it will work with this new strain but I intend to continue to offer monoclonal antibody therapy.

The I-MASK+ prevention protocol recommends certain supplements to optimize our immunity including Vitamin D 1-3 thousand IU’s daily, Vitamin C 1000 mg twice daily, Quercetin 250 mg daily, zinc 30-40 mg daily and melatonin 6 mg nightly. We have also purchased a nasal product called IonMist to use 1-2 times daily to sterilize the nasal passages. I intend for us to put together kits that replicate this for persons interested.
I have seen cases of Influenza A starting just around Thanksgiving. Remember this responds well to oral Tamiflu and giving Tamiflu to house contacts greatly diminishes getting actively ill. A majority of our patients, myself and the staff have had this year’s flu vaccine.
