Senator Shoutout for Live Oak Public Libraries

Live Oak Public Libraries hopes to provide a foundation for literacy for everyone in our service area, and that service area just so happens to include U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock. Sen. Warnock was kind enough to share his own library story with us, and we're excited to share it with you too!

Solar Eclipse Events on Saturday

Did you know there's a solar eclipse this weekend? Georgia isn't in the path where the annular or "ring of fire" eclipse will be visible, but we'll get to see a crescent shaped "bite" in the sun Saturday. And we've got events at multiple libraries to celebrate!

Fox in a Box display

(The Fox Theater, not a live fox)

Hinesville Library is currently hosting this exhibit, part of a collaborative project from the Georgia Public Library Service and the Fox Theater Institute in Atlanta with the purpose of spreading awareness about the history and significance of the Fox Theater around Georgia.

Fun fact from the display: The Fox Theater's iconic blue ceiling was originally painted with a compound that included buttermilk!

Give feedback on Georgia BEAD proposal

The Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) is assisting the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget (OPB) to expand broadband across the state, supporting every Georgian’s access to highspeed, reliable internet.

GTA is currently in the planning phase for more than $1.3 billion in grant funds from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program. These dollars will be used to support broadband grants to serve remaining unserved and underserved locations in Georgia.
