WHAT'S BLOWING IN THE WIND?

Holtec's radioactive and chemical wastewater discharge via forced evaporation

under the guide of 'worker comfort' and 'drying equipment' is an immoral ruse.

Updates:

State Senator Su Moran led the Cape Cod and South Shore delegation in a March letter to Holtec calling for Holtec to stop discharging Pilgrims' radioactive and chemically contaminated wastewater into our air and environment.

"At this time, we request that you cease all evaporation until the MassDEP can fully analyze this untested method of wastewater disposal.", stated the legislative team.

We thank our state representatives for call on Holtec to halt the discharge while medical research studies are underway to health impacts. Holtec CEO Kris Singh has not replied.

Senator Ed Marky, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and Representative Bill Keating urge Holtec to heed community concerns over forced evaporation discharge of radioactive wastewater from Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station.

"In their letter to Holtec International President and CEO Kris Singh, the lawmakers wrote, “There is no question that evaporating wastewater from Pilgrim poses potential health and environmental risks. During the 2022 U.S. Senate field hearing, you identified evaporation with electric heaters as an alternative to discharging the wastewater into Cape Cod Bay. But you also acknowledged that evaporation would cause environmental damage. After all, evaporated wastewater released into the air will not permanently remain in the sky; eventually it will return to sensitive areas such as Plymouth’s residential neighborhoods and Cape Cod Bay.”

Thank you to our federal elected representatives for holding Holtec accountable to stop this process as Holtec's original promise to discharge only with stakeholder approval was reneged. We do not consent to this contamination of our communites and environment.
