Medical Scribe and Next Generation Physician, Danielle, is off to Med School | |
Danielle Collins, a participant in the Next Generation Physician Program — an Ethos Farm to Health initiative, in partnership with Ethos Primary Care — is off to Temple Medical School, Bethlehem, following Keith Grega who left us for the same school last year!
Danielle’s interest in nutrition was sparked when her family visited a holistic-minded physician, achieving great results and with Dr. Weiss, she continued to experience first-hand how getting to the root cause of illness is a powerful approach to healing.
Listen to her reasons for going to Med School at the 4:53 mark in this video filmed to commemorate March, the Nutrition month!

State of Farm Thoughts: On the tenth anniversary of Ethos Farm
| |
|
Since 2014, when Nora joined Ethos Farm to Health (formerly Ethos Farm Project), this farm has been on a transformative journey, guided by a mission to nurture and renew the land, to restore soil health by reversing all the degradation caused by years of monoculture farming, restore biodiversity, and support our local community. We started small but have grown a lot, especially since we became a non-profit in September 2021. While this is without a doubt the result of the diligence and dedication of all the farmers and farm volunteers who have worked here and been trained as next generation farmers on this 342-acre certified organic, regenerative farm, it would not have been possible without the philanthropic dedication and initiative of some of our biggest donors, the matching support of the USDA and the provisions made within the Farm Bill for the support of small local farms.
As a result of this support, for which we are immensely grateful, we have been able to make significant enhancements to our infrastructure by adding several high tunnels, a seed starting greenhouse, and an irrigation well. We also added another refrigeration and storage unit last year with the help of volunteers who gave generously of their time.
With the irrigation well, the high tunnels, and the seed starting greenhouses we will secure water access and greatly enhance our ability to mitigate the risks posed by erratic weather patterns like floods, frost, and drought. When the ground is wet, like it has been this year with the excessive rainfall we have experienced in our area, our seed starters and high tunnels have kept our planting on schedule such that we are hopeful of opening the Doctor's Farm Market in mid-late April. If it wasn't for the development of this infrastructure, we wouldn't have been able to get things in the ground till May, and that would not have been fun! We all look forward to the unparalleled goodness of the food sold at the Farm Market, April through November.
Stay tuned for our opening announcement!

New Apprenticeship Program
This year we started a new Organic Market Garden Apprenticeship which offers hands-on experience and skill-building of small-scale market gardening. This year we are looking forward to having two seasonal apprentices learning about regenerative farming and furthering our mission to train the next generation.
