You can still sign up for many of Greater Cleveland RTA's technical tours during APTA's Rail Conference, June 2-5, in Cleveland.
The tours include:
Superior Bridge Tour: Featuring great views of the Cuyahoga River and the numerous bridges supporting Cleveland’s transportation network, the Superior Bridge was opened in 1917. Home to Cleveland's original trolleys the bridge carried streetcars on the lower level until the mid 1950’s. You'll be able to explore the bridge's lower level and former streetcar stations.
Northern Ohio Rail Museum Tour: Join GCRTA for a journey through electric railway history. On a walking tour, visitors can see streetcars, interurbans, rapid transit and railroad equipment from Ohio, dating from 1895 to 1970. Tour includes a visit to the restoration shop where you can see how these treasures of the past are disassembled and restored to like-new condition by skilled volunteer technicians.
GCRTA Rail Yard Tour: Beginning and ending at the Conference Center, ride an LRV from the Waterfront Line 9th East Station to the East 55th Yard Central Rail Maintenance Facility to see where day-to-day maintenance of the railcars take place.
You can sign-up for available tour times while registering for the Rail Conference or by logging back into the registration service center. You can also check wait-lists and learn more about the tours at the GCRTA welcome desk near APTA's registration area at the Convention Center.
