A Pathway to Education For Jennifer

Jennifer Lozano Plancarte is humbled and appreciative of Caridad Center's financial support and guidance which helped her earn two college degrees.

It all started more than a decade ago when her family suggested she look at social service programs at Caridad Center. She joined the Girl Scout Troop led by Scarlett Fave. At the time, Fave was also the Director of Social Services at Caridad Center, but she took an additional role with the Girl Scout troop.

Lozano believes her Girl Scout experience helped her to make friends and memories that will last a lifetime. It is also where Lozano met Brenda Lopez, Caridad's Social Services Manager, who would become an informal mentor and provide inspiration for her.

"Brenda kept me motivated with her support, kindness and positivity. That's what is so special about this place. It's the people," Lozano said. "The financial support is important, but the experiences and how everyone in Social Services made me feel will last forever."

Connecting with the Social Services department changed the trajectory of Lozano's life, including giving her the opportunity to attend college using scholarships funded by Caridad Center. Through this support, Lozano was able to obtain her associate's degree from Palm Beach State College and bachelor's degree in Health Services with a major in Health Administration and minor in Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University in May. She graduated with a 3.8 GPA, which earned her Magna Cum Laude and Latin honors.

"I dream of the day that I will be able to donate and give back to Caridad Center to help make a difference in the families of need, in the same way that they have made a positive impact in my family's life," Lozano said.

Most importantly, Jennifer Lozano Plancarte was able to say with determination and support, she did it!

What's Happening Around The Clinic

This summer Caridad Center hosted interns from the EJS Project's Purpose Pays summer internship Program. This program provides local teens with the opportunity for on the job skills and training.

On Saturday, August 6th, Caridad Center hosted its annual "Back to School Bash." More than 1,200 backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed to children in the community. The event would not have been a success without the support of volunteers, dedicated staff, donors, community partners, and The Soup Kitchen of Boynton Beach, which provided 2,000 meals.
