You cannot live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be
able to repay you.

Dear Friends,

This letter is being sent to all of the wonderful people who have supported the BIA of Illinois in the past and especially this year. Thank you so very much for your generous support of the mission and goals of the Brain Injury Association of Illinois.

This year, like every year, we have been busy strengthening our programs and expanding our services. With more than a quarter of a million children, teens and adults in Illinois affected by acquired brain injury, you can imagine how much of a challenge it is to provide quality services. Your contribution is used to directly support the programs and services we provide to children and adults throughout the state of Illinois.

Some of our accomplishments and activities during the past year.....

-          More than a 1,000 phone calls were received and made this year to provide    assistance to someone whose life was impacted by brain injury

-          More than 15,000 e-mails were received and sent this year for information, resources and support

-          More than 7,200 visitors to the website during the past year, and 70% were

new visitors

-          Added 6 new educational films to the YouTube channel during the past year

for public viewing

-          There are 23 statewide support groups and an additional 5 groups have been identified for the coming year

-          More than a 1,000 people "like" the BIA of Illinois Facebook page

-          More than 700 people are "following" BIA of Illinois on Twitter

-          Distributed the "Journey Forward" film throughout the state and nation to

injured military service members and their families

-          Participated in Welcome Home Celebrations around the state for returning military service members and their families

-          Provided support and leadership in the passage of Illinois' new state Concussion Law during the past year

-          Provided Injury Prevention and Concussion Awareness programs to

coaches, educators, parents and athletes during the past year

-          Provided support and leadership in the passage of Chicago's new city Concussion ordinance during the past year

-          Increased the number of campers attending CampFunZone and Wilderness Endeavor, including new and returning campers

-          Developed an electronic family guide for the injured individual's family

-          Expanded the BIA Fact Sheets to include concussion awareness and prevention

The major causes of brain injuries are falls, motor vehicle crashes, playground injuries and sports injuries. Brain injury can happen to anyone at anytime...we are all at risk!

This holiday season we are asking you to help us by making a contribution to the Brain Injury Association of Illinois. Again, we are so grateful to you for your past support. We are deeply appreciative for any support you are able to give us at this time. Please visit the website to donate online and sign up for the free e-mail mailing list.

Wishing you and your family a year of perfect days!
