In keeping with our commitment of excellent service to our clients and members, HMAA will be upgrading our claims and benefits system on January 1, 2024. As part of this upgrade, you will see changes to some of our services including your monthly premium bill, a new client online portal for plan administration, a new member online portal, and paperless Explanation of Benefits. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience during this upgrade to our system and portals. For further information, please refer to the December 1, 2023 notice we sent to health plan administrators or visit hmaa.com.
If your group has been assigned a new policy number, the new number was included in the December 1, 2023 notice sent to your health plan administrator
For most members, their member ID number will not change, and they may continue using their most recently issued ID card. A few members will receive a new group policy number and/or member ID. We will mail these members a new ID card to begin using on January 1, 2024.

You will soon receive your bill for January 2024 premiums. It was generated from HMAA’s new system and reflects January 2024 eligibility based on our records as of December 1, 2023. It does not reflect any outstanding balances (retroactive adjustments, benefit changes, past-due premiums) or credits (overpayments, terminations, adjustments, etc.) for 2023.

In early January 2024: You will receive an extra bill from HMAA’s old system only if you have an outstanding or credit balance for 2023 coverage.

In mid-January 2024: You will receive a bill for February 2024 premiums including any adjustments resulting from 2024 eligibility changes received December 2, 2023 to January 9, 2024.

In mid-February 2024: You will receive a bill for March 2024 premiums.
All bills will be viewable and payable online at hmaa.com/billpay or by check. If you have a newly assigned policy number, the new policy and authentication code will need to be added under your online bill pay user account. HMAA Account Managers will contact affected online bill pay users by December 31, 2023 to ensure their accounts are updated.

Understanding Your Bill for January 2024 Premiums | |
1. Date Billed
The date on which HMAA billed your policy.
2. Payment Due Date
The date your total amount is due.
3. Policy and Division Numbers
Your HMAA group policy and division number.
4. Coverage Summary
This section summarizes your January 2024 eligibility by coverage type based on our records as of December 1, 2023. ACA taxes and fees are no longer listed as separate line items and are instead included in premium amounts.
5. Billing Summary
This section summarizes premiums billed, fees (if any), and the total amount due for January 2024 premiums based on our records as of December 1, 2023. It does not include outstanding balances, payments received, or adjustments for 2023. Those will be on a subsequent bill if applicable.

6. Payment Coupon
This section shows your HMAA group policy and division number, company name, and address. It also shows the statement date, due date, amount due, and HMAA’s mailing address for payments. If paying by check, please detach and return this payment coupon with your check.
7. For Coverage
The first day of the coverage month.
8. Current Charges
This section shows your members with January 2024 eligibility. It includes each member’s insured ID number, last name, first name, coverage level, plan benefits, and January 2024 premium. A hyphen will appear for non-covered benefits.
9. Adjustments
This section is for adjustments made to your account. It will not include adjustments for 2023 or resulting from 2024 eligibility changes received December 2, 2023 to January 9, 2024. Those will be on a subsequent bill if applicable.
10. Fees
This section shows fees billed to your policy (if any).
11. Total Current Month Premiums, Adjustments, and Fees
The total amount due.

2024 versions of HMAA medical, drug, and vision plan documents are available at hmaa.com/plan documents. Please contact your HMAA Account Manager for assistance. | |
Gag Clause Prohibition Compliance Attestation (GCPCA) | |
For your information, HMAA successfully submitted the required information and completed a GCPCA on behalf of all of its clients on November 15, 2023. The attestation covers the period December 27, 2020 to November 15, 2023.
A GCPCA is an attestation of compliance with Internal Revenue Code (Code) section 9824, Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) section 724, and Public Health Service (PHS) Act section 2799A-9, as added by section 201 of Title II (Transparency) of Division BB of the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA), as applicable.
