SEAMUS MURPHY APPOINTED TO LEAD WETA
Seamus Murphy was recently appointed by the WETA Board of Directors as the agency’s next executive director. Murphy officially joined the agency January 4, 2021, and will work parallel with retiring longtime WETA Executive Director Nina Rannells for a month.

Murphy served for the last five years as the Chief Communications Officer for the San Mateo County Transit District (District), which operates Caltrain and SamTrans transit services. Murphy led all communications functions for the agency, including the effort to secure two voter-approved revenue sources that are credited with providing much-needed financial stability and the means to grow the agency’s transit services. Prior to that role, Murphy led government affairs for the District, where he was instrumental in securing support for major investments, including the Caltrain modernization program.

LEARN MORE ABOUT WETA'S HISTORY
The completion of the Downtown San Francisco Ferry Terminal expansion project in August 2020 capped off a major phase of investment and growth for the Bay Area’s ferry system.

To help put the project and other recent achievements in context, WETA recently unveiled a timeline of the agency’s history.

CURRENT SCHEDULES REMAIN IN PLACE DURING NEW SHELTER-AT-HOME ORDERS
While the Bay Area has entered a new shelter-at-home order due to a local rise in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, San Francisco Bay Ferry is currently maintaining the same level of service. This includes additional trips added on the Alameda/Oakland route in November.

We encourage all ferry riders to sign up for BayAlerts to receive schedule updates and service alerts via text, email or voice message.

SOLTRANS BUS SERVICE TO SAN FRANCISCO NOW AVAILABLE
SolTrans has added new bus departures connecting Vallejo to San Francisco during commute hours, helping supplement San Francisco Bay Ferry service.

SolTrans’ Route 82 now has peak-direction commute trips on weekday mornings and evenings, leaving from the Vallejo Transit Center near the Vallejo Ferry Terminal. Route 82 stops at the El Cerrito del Norte BART station before continuing on to San Francisco and dropping passengers off near the Ferry Building.

SolTrans also continues to offer its late-evening northbound Route 82 departure from San Francisco, which is a great solution for ferry riders who need to return to Vallejo after the last ferry departure at 7 p.m.
