Calling All Playwrights
Beginning on June 5, the Saigon Writers Club will be making history. Well, sort of..... We're definitely going to be part of Saigon's theatrical history, and that's just plain cool.
We are very proud to collaborate with Short+Sweet Vietnam. This is a global performing arts festival that has staged theatre, dance, cabaret, and song festivals around the world. Its niche is the production of 10-minute plays.
In October and November of this year, Short+Sweet Vietnam will be hosting a total of 20 10-minute plays at the IDECAF Theater in Saigon. It will be a competition with recognition for Best Play, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, and Best Writer. It will be the first time ever for Short+Sweet to host its festival in Vietnam. First timers in all the above categories (writers, directors, and actors) are encouraged to sign up.
The Saigon Writers Club role in this history-making event is to work with the award-winning playwright Alex Broun on the scripts. As noted below, we will host four sessions on how to write a 10-minute play and get it ready for production on stage. Alex Broun is your teacher and the Saigon Writers Club is your host and support network. This is your chance to also be part of history.
Signup has begun. The tuition fee for this playwright writing course is VND 3,000,000 inclusive of all materials, all four sessions of teaching, submission of the play to the festival, and your play will also be published in the Saigon Writers Club 2024 Short Story Anthology.

The arts community of Ho Chi Minh City is really lucky to have Short+Sweet. This is your chance to be part of this luck and also to support the arts community of Saigon. We need your support.

Why not give this a shot? Better yet, why not recruit your own director and actors from your personal network and make it a project for you and your friends and family. Forward this newsletter onto them.
Think about it??? How often do you have a chance to perform in a play of your own making on the IDECAF stage of Saigon? This is your chance.
I hope to see you on June 5.
Cheers and Happy Writing.
