I know very few people will read all the way to the bottom of the email. I figured those of you who have are the ones that would honestly appreciate me sharing a bit of personal news. I found out recently that my council has honored me with the Silver Beaver. I've been in four councils since I was a Cub Scout and done lots of fun things in Scouting. But coming back to camp and working at Barstow has been a big part of my life for the last several years. My daughter got to do it with me and we will always have those memories. I got to work with my old Scout friends and mentors like Chris McDuffie, Charles Galloway, Steve Eaton, Matthew Delk, Austin China, Henry Hall and made many new friends. It even skipped a generation as I was able to hire the children the some of my friends from back in the day -- Alex Oneal, Chip Payne, Jonathan Peel, Wesley Peel, Robert Fletcher. At the last campfire I gave out jackets to staff members who had served 5 summers with me on staff and those are my heros who made it all work. My dad received the Silver Beaver in 1986 when I was 16 years old so this one is very very special to me. Even my sister was excited when I shared the new with my family. :)
