NEW YORK - Accomplished courtroom attorneys Justin Blitz and Fred Schulman have earned selection as two of the top lawyers in New York based on their successes over the years.  In addition, Justin Blitz earned a spot on the Super Lawyers "Rising Stars" list. Mr. Blitz's selection will appears in the publication's New York Metro Rising Stars listing of the top young lawyers in the region. This marks Mr. Schulman's second selection to the Super Lawyers list, and the first time Mr. Blitz has earned a spot in Rising Stars. To develop the annual Super Lawyers and Rising Stars listings, researchers with Thomson Reuters solicit nominations from attorneys across the New York metro region. A blue-ribbon panel assists with final selections, and less than 5 percent of eligible attorneys earn selection. The full lists are available online at www.superlawyers.com, and the Super Lawyers list appears in both The New York Times Magazine and New York Super Lawyers magazine.

RESULTS SO FAR IN 2014

$400,000  settlement for Schulman Blitz's client, a retired physician, who was a pedestrian in Manhattan waiting to cross the street when she was struck by a restaurant delivery boy on a bicycle.  As a result, she sustained multiple facial fractures and the case was settled at a mediation before trial.  


 

$325,000 for Schulman Blitz's client who was a passenger in a car that was involved in an accident with another vehicle in the Bronx.   As a result, our client sustained serious injuries and required multiple surgeries.  

 

$300,000  for Schulman Blitz's client who had parked and exited her car and was stuck by a car.  As a result, our client suffered two fractured vertebrae and a fractured clavicle, and was required to undergo multiple surgeries. Prior to filing a lawsuit Schulman Blitz obtained the maximum available insurance of $100,000. and then we made a claim to our client's Supplementary Underinsured Motorist coverage and was able to obtain an additional $200,000, the S.U.M. insurance available.

 
$175,000 settlement at mediation for Schulman Blitz's  client, a Long Island college student, who was a pedestrian when she was struck by a minivan.  As a result, she sustained a fractured pelvis, a fractured leg and an avulsion wound to her thigh.  

 

$150,000 at mediation after depositions were completed for Schulman Blitz's client who was sitting in the living room of her apartment when the ceiling collapsed.  Parts of the collapsed ceiling struck her on her head and shoulders, causing her to sustain various injuries, including torn ligaments in her shoulder which required surgical intervention.  The landlord, despite having been on notice that the ceiling had been leaking, failed to make the necessary repairs, thereby causing the ceiling collapse.
