Glenbrook Elementary student qualifies for Scripps National Spelling Bee with Kane County Regional Win

On March 20, eight students from various Kane County schools participated in our annual Regional Spelling Bee.

After an exhilarating 18 rounds, Yahya Mohammed, a student at Glenbrook Elementary in District U-46, took the title of Regional Spelling Bee Champion with the word 'equilibrium'! Yahya is now eligible to represent our area in the 2024 Scripps National Spelling Bee, which will take place in the Washington, D.C. area in May.

We are proud of each student that participated and displayed their incredible knowledge. Congratulations to Yahya and all of our school champions!

48th Educator of the Year draws record number of nominations

We are pleased to share that we have reached a new high mark with 57 total submissions for our annual Educator of the Year banquet. This is a show of tremendous support for school staff members across Kane County and a testament to the profound impact these individuals have made on their school communities.

Staff from the Kane County Regional Office of Education have been conducting interviews with each nominee at schools and district offices since before spring break. We have been fortunate to hear the wonderful stories these individuals have to share, and we look forward to featuring them at our banquet on Friday, May 3.

Tickets for the event are available at your district office.
