WEEK OF MARCH 20, 2024

2024 Kane County Institute Day: Student Panel

At this year's Kane County Institute Day, a group of 25 students from U-46 and Central School District 301 took turns sharing testimonials of their school experiences, including prejudices they have faced. They spoke about how they felt friends and staff members reacted in these situations and gave background information on their own cultures.

The presentation sparked discussions between students and staff members, including questions about what educators had witnessed and how students can be supported.

The opportunity to include these students as part of Kane County Institute Day is just one way we aim to support diversity and equity across schools. We are proud of the students who spoke about their experiences and look forward to more opportunities to support these efforts in the future.

We were happy to host the Kane County educators who joined us last week to discuss how to effectively utilize AI when assessing student writing.
